These were followed by the Hyrum Silver Band which gave several selections and thus added life to the march. Next came 21 members of Troop H. of Logan, followed by Hyrums volunteers, first ward scouts, citizens and the Lincoln School. After the parade the crowd gathered in front of the Elite Hall and listened to patriotic speeches by M. A. Gill and Prof. GeoB. Hendricks. The Lincoln School and throng sang several patriotic hymns to the music of the band. The committee had prepared a banquet in the Elite Hall at which the members of troop H, Hyrum's volunteers numbering 12, and the Band were guests. In all 54 people were served. M. A. Gill was toastmaster and toasts were given by C. F. Olsen, H. T. Hutton, Lieutenant Barron and E. R. Owen. The luncheon was served by 10 High School girls with Miss Gladys Christiansen in charge. At 8 oclock a patriotic meeting was held in the 3rd Ward Chapel." boose "Wag" filled to capacity, Jess Wilson acted as chairman, Alvin McBride offered prayer. The congregation sang America, followed by a selection by the band. Prof. Geo. B. Hendricks and Hon. E. R. Butte has a population of over one hundred thousand; it has a pay-roevery month of three million dollars, and employs between fifteen and twenty thousand miners. It is considered the largest mining camp in the world. One can stand on the corner of Broadway and Main, when they are changing shifts and you will see thousands of, miners with their dinner pails coming and going in every direction, so that you can hardly get through the crowded streets.
