Show HEALTH AND INDUSTRY there never was a time in the history of utah since those early days when the hardy pioneers from the confines of the mountain canyon gazed upon this widespread wide spread valley that the interest of the whole people was turned with more earnestness to this city than at the present time in utah there are unnumbered hundreds whose very livelihood depends upon the applied attention of those of our citizens who axe are in a position to extend it and there are conditions which exist that call for relief one of the necessities of this city is the cleaning out of the debris which is accumulated in the more remote districts of the town and another is the need of encouragement coura gement of our hoone home industries that some parts of the city are in an unfavorable condition as far as dirt and disease breeding accumulations are concerned is too evident to suggest the reason tor for denial and in consequence it is no wonder that so much sickness prevails at times while the health department part paTt ment is no doubt doing its full duty through some unexplained reason the debris in the places spoken of is increased instead ot of being decreased and therefore the menace to health is made to be somewhat pronounced it would doubtless doubt les be as well tor for the health department to so set its machinery in operation that such auch cause for complaint may as soon as possible be removed in so far as the second proVo proposition altion Is concerned the need of encouragement of home industry it is 19 as plainly palpable in the numbers of workingmen 9 at present out ot of employment and the neglected condI condition tilon of many ot our necessary industrial institutions the two subjects are necessarily con joil bained ned because without life or there would be no demand for the opportunity port unity pity of employment except that which might be dispensed at the hands of the ithe physician vor nor would there be much increase in the number ot of avenues for employment the common peoples first need were home industries permitted to rest in torpidity and as tto to the promotion promo thoin and tarther farther ance of the institutions established in our established too tod for the benefit of our own people it were well chait those who are able to bo so do so ah aho uld patronize them all they can that they not only may benefit t themselves but help to benefit others especially ally those who are out cut of employment and add the needy and deserving in our midst |
