1811 she was baptized baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints on septem bw 28 1860 by elder william weston at tipton staffordshire eng arid aad tb together Rether with her husban dGeorge hin hill their home was it a welcome place for the elders in their native land with her husband she emigrated to utah in 1853 1863 and went to strengthen the of sanpete in 1854 being called at the october conference ot of that year she died as she had lived bearing a testimony to the latter day work she mw has gone to join her husband and the fa faithful that have gone before waiting the baptism when 8 years yeara of age emigrated to utah in 1866 and was married to TO william W smith on the ath day of june 1870 she has been sufferer for years from dropsy she ling lingered eted on till mada WILLIAM ATKIN SAMUEL ALLEN WILCOX samuel allen alien wilcox sen died of paralysis lysis at cedar fort utah county utah april 7 1898 deceased was born march 22 1819 in york state st lawrence county making him seventy nine years hearp and fifteen days old ne he embraced the gospel of jesus christ chris of day saints the lath of sep 1839 and moved d to commerce afterwards called nauvoo birthday being the same date as that of queen victoria in 1836 she married to alfred cordon and two years later they joined the mormon church Septem september beT 1842 found them in whither they hd had come to be with those of their faith here they remained for three years when they moved again to burlington iowa and from there to pigeon creek in the same saine state the desire to be with their people again urged them on an and in the spring of 1851 they started to salt lake valley where they arrived in october of the same year they made their home at salt lake city until 1865 when they moved to brigham city in the feal fail of 56 they settled art ait willard and there they remained until death the story of mrs cordons cordona Cor dons life closely follows the history of the church but this little wife was brave and while he preached the gospel she prepared the ground and raised food for her family with great exert exertions ioris she managed to keep them from actual starvation but not from want she lived a heroine and even in her long years of illness illanes she ahe stood true to her colors she was a noble woman she leaves a host of friends to reverence her memory and on the other side she greets another host she was the mother of fourteen children grandmother of o f sixty four and great grandmother of forty nine of these there are still living seven children fifty the watford branch where he remained for two years and then went to guilsborough where he pre a short time in 1863 1853 he was appointed to take charge temporarily of the leicestershire Leicester shire conference where he met miss mary ann hibbit who became his wife in december of the same year in 1867 he was appointed to take the oversight of what wem was known as the wymondham Wymon Wymond dham harn district the same being half of the norwich conference in 1858 he presided over the bedford conference and from there was sent to dundee end and presided over that conference in 1859 he emigrated to america in 1860 remal remaining nIng in new york for one year and then came to utah and made his first permanent home in st george washington county in 1862 and passed through the hardships of the early settlers in th dixie country his health was poo most of the time he moved to pine I 1 ine valley in 1882 and the next year was ordained a high priest by apostle erastus snow assisted by apostles allford woodruff francis M lyman and george teasdale dale his first wife never bore him any children and died in 1880 at st george rh in 1862 he mar riad elizabeth cowper by whom
