pleasant view ward on thi the dinst in the form of a ward reunion an interesting program of impromptu exercises was carr carried I 1 ed out in the meeting house while three long tables arranged in the school house just south of the street were being loaded down with the most palatable eatables and drinkables drin kables of the season enough to r satisfy the most voracious of the inner man and sufficient left to supply each individual not privileged to be present with a like quantity bishop ward and of north ogden and other distinguished distin gushed visitors were present A very enjoyable time was had with the family of james barker of this place on the 2nd and dinst celebrating the anniversary of his and his amiable cifes mar mariage tage A number of their relatives and friends were present and engaged in the festivities of thib ehfe occasion as follows mr and mrs F W minerva hickman margaret storey and mrs B F blaylock mr and mrs N H barker mr and mrs william barker of view ward mr and mrs sam shaw mesdames sarah berrett five daughters living fifty grandchild ellen homes and mr F G clifford after doing ample justice to a copious spread of the delicacies of the season musical ex were engaged in with instrumental accompaniment by lyman barker and F wellis brother arid and sister barker have three sons and the sons and three of the sons in law dren and five great grandchildren all residing in north ogden except the family of W F garner who it at clifton idaho and was for several years bishop of that ward two of mania for two and a halt half years and have filled honorable missions in the earth one to the far off island of tas honor and trust among the people They nearly all of them are in positions of honor nd trust among the people they are also well connected in other parts of the earth A sister to brother barker matilda of iowa county wis coasin was for eight years an able and leading school teacher of that locality and in course of time married alonzo jenkes also a noted school teacher having served in that capacity before and after marriage twenty four fou years they raised a respectable fam famil llyone yone of whom aldio jenkes is now recognized as one of the leading lawyers wisconsin serving as district attorney member of the county board and mayor of dodgeville dodge ville and is in at present probate judge of his native county his election over attorney geo whitman one of the most popular attorneys in the I 1 county evidencing his popularity he was married to miss laura goodsell a daughter of hon E B goodsell member of the constitutional convention of that state in 1947 A brother to miss laura was wa elected probate judge of grant county the same day that brother barkers nephew fl aldro jenkes was elected probate judge of iowa county our district schools are doing excellent work under the management of R N ames of this place charles E maw of plain city and miss stimson of Ri verdale for lack of room the intermediate ter department is taught in the hall the trustees trust however contemplate enlarging the school building to accommodate all the departments during the summer vacation I 1 A H rogers of this place is at home from his school in parr farr west on account of sickness L waldram of north ogden is teaching the slaterville Slat erville school while john Q blaylock also of this place is teaching f the warren district school elder J G kimball of the first farat seven presidents of seventies held a series of interesting betings recently in north ogden with the seventies of north ogden and pleasant view in compliance with his request at a meeting of the council on the alth dinst seven names for missionary work were selected our sunday school is now doing excellent work being graded into kinder garten primary first and second intermediate and theological theolo theol orical ical departments under willing and effi efficient clent teachers the kindergarten and primary departments hold in the school house separated by folding doors which are open for opening and closing the program to is laid for six months seven teachers working through both departments depart menta 10 minutes allotted to each exercise each teacher taking up his or her exercise just on the minute to illustrate the first ten minutes is occupied by emily brown in the kindergarten and thou thos storey in the primary from 1040 to 1060 1050 B F blaylock gives chart lesson in the kindergarten while david shupe is lecturing in primary on life of christ david sauve then gives life by thomas storey with life of moses while motion songs and singing practice are engaged in primary by lucy Randall Cora kills ellis and lillian perrin for twenty minutes from 1060 1050 to 1110 the music is then taken into the kindergarten while the chart lesson is being delivered in the primary from 1110 to 1120 then comes pupils and viel visitors toral work from 1120 to 1130 followed by the closing exercises the other departments hold in the meeting house divided by curtains laying their plans also for from three to six months and doing good work under the direct direction lob of superintendent N montgomery and his assistants J A
