Show A LETTER FROM DENMARK hjorting Hj oring denmark feb 2 1898 some time ago it was decided as con lenient by all concerned to change from the old branch office to larger and more suitable quarters after some searching sead ching the missionaries found rooms which were satisfactory the proprietor hesitated some at first about setting letting mormons cormons move into his house as there were several families occupying others parts of the building and he did not know how they would like it however he concluded it would do no harm to try them well the moving in was followed by a meeting together of the very indignant tenants with a view of seeing what should be done to resent the intrusion of such unwelcome neighbors but after having been in session a short time the little convention adjourned without having decided on anything more serious than that they would be one in ostracising from their company and treating with silent contempt those mormons cormons Mor mons por for awhile they did not even look let alone speak but this did not seem to affect the missionaries at all they treated their neighbors with civility and minded their own business thus their indignant int friends gradually be ganto think that those mormons cormons were not really so bad as they supposed them to be this thought was followed by a salutation on meeting atad so it went on a little longer but in this case as in all ali others a climax was reached it came about in this way one quiet afternoon we were attracted by somewhat loud sounds proceeding from the back yard imagine our surprise when on opening the door we beheld two of the main promoters of the anti mormon fooling feeling arrayed in a battle of words which grew warmer wanner and warmer till one of the contestants loudly accused the other party of violating the fifth commandment this caused retaliation ghori after this occurrence we received to 4 call from the landlord who asked our opi opinion tilon about the matter and said odd it if we thought it proper he would have them move such things sald said he not fit tor for respectable folks to witness the other people took great F inger ns s to invite hr missionaries no I 1 er those mormons cormons Mor mons in and explain that they did not wish us to have a misunderstanding about the affair for or they knew that we were not accustomed customer cus tomed to see such things etc etc aad now we are wanted quite often the aki property owner says those mormon missionaries are the best people I 1 have in my house PARLEY P JENSON |
