hatchery Ha leicester shire england and emigrated in 1849 on good friday 1860 she was baptized by elder david booth then president of cohoes branch now residing at brigham city utah she had no known relatives in this country she was loved by all around her for her patience and resignation and with the hope of eternal life to cheer her closing hours she passed from a life of usefulness and september 6 1897 Ma Mary ry ann bladen beloved wife of william bladen the last sad rites were performed over the mortal remains of our aged and much respected sister on saturday september bilth in the parish church whitchurch glamorgan shire she leaves an affectionate husband loving children and grandchildren and a host of admiring neighbors to mourn her demise short funeral services were held at the home of the deceased after which a large cortege hallowed Sall owed the remains to their last resting place so affecting were the short of the saints at the funeral that the members of the family were irresistibly impelled to repair en masse sunday evening to the latter day saints mission room where according to their services were held opening prayer was offered by elder D B thomas after which some very i consoling and eulogistic remarks were made by our venerable branch president james watts president crane then followed with a discourse on the atonement and the resurrection slater sister jane E thomas wife of john W berry and a faithful mother a true and consistent latter day saint sister berry was born in dallas allas county alavata Ala vama jan glik 14 1881 ane was a 47 Pi pioneer onder having crossed the plains in jedediah M grants granes company arriving in salt lake valley shortly after president youngs company afew A few years later she abe moved to iron county where she hie been for thirty one years and has assisted materially in building up that section she visited salt lake city curing the jubilee and gazed with satisfaction upon the scenes commemorative of the advent of the pioneers in this valley returning to her home she was taken bedfast in which condition she remained until her death sister berry had a wide circle of friends and relatives and leaves behind to mourn her departure and to share in the emulation of her example nine children one of the family having gone before she also leaves thir ty three grandchildren the deceased was much devoted to the gospel her home was always open to the elders of the church and she had great faith in the ordinances of the priesthood and was healed many times under the hands of the servants of god she was in the long valley indian trouble when joseph and hyrum berry were killed and endured many hardships with patience and perseverance however for the gospels sake her funeral occurred at Ka narra sept 21 1897 corn com CARL GREENWELL the funeral services over the remains of carl Ge enwell were conducted by bishop stevens at the residence of the dece deceased abed parents ogden tuesday at the services were opened by singing rest tor for the weary soul followed by prayer by elder carl anderson mrs bessie dean allison beautifully rendered 0 my father and counselor larkin spoke upon gods mercy and love for his children mr herboth the teacher in the sabbath school which the lad had attended spoke well of him and said that he cared cared not what brought him into the industrial school he could assure every one that he was an obedient well disposed boy that he was intelligent and never broke an order of the school the quartet of the industrial school then sang nearer my god to thee and W W burton referred to the fact that the evils existing were constantly in evidence without any effort on our part to encourage them while on the other hand it requires our best efforts in order to cultivate good habits he further spoke of the necessity of exercising charity towards each other elder charles greenwell thanked the many friends that had gathered to show their respect tor for the mother and the family and indorsed endorsed indor sed fully the remarks made by all the speakers he knew that carl was naturally a good boy but sometimes had been led astray by others older than himself bishop stevens said that we meet with many trials and much sorrow sorrow in this life and that we were sent int this existence to gain experience the impressive services were closed by singing mid scenes of confusion and the he benediction was pronounced pronounced by bishop stevens the remains were interred in the city cemetery and the rave dedicated by G W larkin six lads from the city utah died of chronic tuberculosis of the lungs he was born september 23 1857 at fort supply then in utah territory he was a son of elder james M X brown and grandson of captain ja james mes brown who ear early to 1846 purchased d the tract of land 0 includes most of what is now weber county in hi his early years he was anxious to set get knowledge that he might be en abbed led to fill bonor honorably ably whatever position he should be called upon to accept and when a near relative of the family was called to fill a foreign mis sion his spirit was moved with aa an earnest desire to
