loop of tion paper with the number “1” written on it It’s all that remains of a paper chain that once stretched around the room That lone link can only mean Lonni one thing to Miles of Eden — just one more day until The Big Night She’s been counting down for some time now “One day I was doing my homework and I was bored” she said “So I made this chain It only took about an hour" That was 130 days ago Tomorrow Day 131 Lonni will tear the final link from its place on the wall and get ready for what very well could be the most exciting evening of her young life The New Kids on the Block concert New Kids on the Block is a Boston-base- d singing group that for better than a year now has been the idol of young teenage and preteen girls everywhere And Saturday night at the Marriott Center in Provo tens of thousands of screaming girls — with a few parents thrown in as chaperones for the younger fans — will gather for the New Kids on the Block concert And you can bet come hell or high prices (tickets are $25) Lonni will be there To say Lonni is a New Kids fan would be classic understatement Try something along the lines of “Superfan” Not only does she own all of their albums pastel-colore- ' (4) and their videos (3) but Lonni also possesses more than her share of New Kids merchandise Her room is a veritable shrine to the five boys from Boston The walls of her room — from the ceiling to about a foot above the floor — are wallpapered with New Kids on the Block posters — somewhere around 140 in all she estimates “Before I had kitty posters all over” she said But there’s more On the pightstand beside the bed is a photo album stuffed with pix of the Fab Five gleaned mostly from teen magazines and booty And Lonni isn’t alone in her teenage obsession Her best friend and fellow Cara Elliott of Liberty has decorated her room in a similar fashion For her last birthday Cara asked for — and got — nothing but New Kids paraphernalia Between them they possess such officially licensed products as New Kids on the Block shoelaces key chains earrings mirrors photo albums notebooks (they use them for journals) buttons and caps more Lonni even has a New Kids on the Block pillowcase emblazoned with the likeness of one idols accompaof the clean-cnied by a heartfelt if mass-prduced autograph: “Love Always and Forever Jordan Knight” (Cara is working on getting one with Donnie Wahlberg’s mug) They’ve also written letters to See NEW KIDS on 4D fan-cl- L 1 1 rS£M o Preview C3 m What: Labor Day Mountain Man Rendezvous Trapper's Loop Rendezvous When: Labor Day event
