were present elder fred squires president ot of the ban francisco Franc leco branch and elder samuel walker president of the sacramento branch bishop jos JOB S tanner and wife of panguitch utah were also with us being in the state at the present time visiting relatives and friends living here three meetings were held at the hours of 10 a in m and 2 and 7 p in respectively ively the first WRO was attended mainly by the saints of whom a goodly number were present at the abe last two meetings the he hall ball was crowded with saints and strangers of the strangers some came prompted by curiosity to see the mormons cormons Mor mons and the nature ot of the conference which had been quite thoroughly advertised others came as sincere investigators who have for some time past been beau taki taking ng great real interest in ana carefully studying the gospel as taught by the latter latte rd clay saints the elders present each in turn occupied a portion of the time in reporting their labors since the last semiannual semi annual can conference terence and in speak log ing upon the principles of the gospel the reports coming from the different fields of labor were very favorable and there are excellent prospects prospect for a good work to be performed here in the abe future the master whom the elders are ser serving opens the way for them blesses them in their labors and gives fives saints when aney are well rendered have a great effect upon the lovers of music in this conference there are three fields to in which elders are laboring viz VA ban francisco sacramento and stockton the first two have org anisse branches of energetic saints by whose efforts the elders have been materi materially sHy aided in the two branches alone there has ben been anin an increase cresse in the membership since last conference terence by of baptism ol of about twenty souls and several more have applied for and are awaiting the performance of the orai ordinance nance on the evening previous to the conference a meeting of the conjoint mutu mutual al improvement association was held an excellent program had bad been got up and the parts we were re rendered in a manner creditable to the association BB the enrollment of the association has baa been more than doubled since the last semiannual annual conference the members are and the association is ia in good working condition both branches are reported as aa having sunday meeting regularly upon the sabbath morning ana in which there is ia a good enrollment and ancl much interest taken by the saints both ohl and young on the
