If you have a story or photos...Call 5449133 Davis County Ski School to open after holidays BLODGETT Sports Editor Despite lack of snow, thus far, at Salt Lake area ski resorts, Davis County Ski School is making another attempt at getting a ski program on the local hills. Weve been disappointed at not being able to partake of the first planned session because lack of snow has caused the Alta and Snow Basin resorts to remain closed, said Russell Whitaker, director of the County Ski School. But we know conditions will improve and we certainly will make concessions to those who registered for the first session and have not been able to participate. Meanwhile, its time again to register for the second session which will begin Jan. 2 and continue for five consecutive Saturdays. Signup will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at four locations between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Registration sites are Colonial Gift and Floral, Colonial Square, 566 W. 2600 S., Bountiful; Farmington City Hall, 130 N. Main, Farmington; Clearfield Swimming Pool, 934 S. 1000 E., Clearfield; and at the Johnson residence, 5539 S. 2200 W., Roy. Mr. Whitaker said concessions will be made to skiers who signed up and paid for the first session. He said skiers may transfer to the second session now or may take advantage of makeup days from the first session into the second session. "We will either make up the time lost with future money, said Mr. Whitaker. Also, he noted, skiers who enrolled for the first session at Snow Basin and qualify for the $8 discount may also carry this discount over to the second session. New enrollments in the second session, however, will not qualify for the discount. Three packages at three separate prices are being offered for the second session, Mr. Whitaker explained. Package No. I includes five lessons and bus transportation to Snow Basin or Alta for a cost of $60. Package No. 2 features five lessons only. You furnish your own transportation to one of the two resorts for a cost of $30. Package No. 3 includes transportation only for $45 per person. These costs do not include lift passes. However, reduced prices for lift passes are available through the Davis County Ski School. Lessons are taught by certified ski instructors at both resorts. Classes are limited to 12 students per class with an age limit of 10 years through adult.
