Show DECEMBER 8, 1987 First step for Fruit Heights MBA FRUIT HEIGHTS The Fruit Heights City Council is looking ahead. It is in the formative stages of creating a redevelopment agency, with the ordinance paving the way approved last week. City Adminis trator Belva Provost emphasizes there are no specific plans to be undertaken once the agency is up and running. This was a first step, she indicated, noting some phases of an RDA were explained to the council by Jonnalyne Walker, South Salt Lakes RDA director. The city council will act as a board of directors but particulars will be worked out in the coming months, she explained. "Specific sites will be discussed later on with no big project anticipated. Two are current county residents while another grew up in Layton. Receiving the award were: Gerald E. Regan, Clearfield, a test examiner in the 2849th Air Base Group, is a graduate of North High School, Torrance, Calif. Lisa J. Baird, Layton, a secretary in the Consolidated Base Personnel Office, is a graduate of Layton High School and received a bachelors degree from Weber State College. She has one daughter, Corianne. Cindy L. Smith, Farr West, a personnel clerk in the base Civilian Training Office, also received the award in June 1985. She is a graduate of Clearfield High School. She is married to Ron Smith and they have two children, Zachary, 6 and Candice, 2. She is daughter of Wally and Donna Ramsey of Layton. Isabel F. Trujillo, Syracuse, a clerk in the Civilian Personnel Classification Section, is a graduate of Clearfield High School. She is married to Jose A. S. Trujillo and is the daughter of Joe and Effie Ocana also of Syracuse. Sherilyn Henley, Roy, a personnel staffing assistant in the Base Affirmative Employment Section, is a Weber High School graduate. She is married to William E. Henley and they have four children: Kristy, 18; Tyler, 15; Brandy, 11; and Lindy , 8. She is the daughter of Lynn and Irene Parker of Ogden. Sharen E. Perry, Ogden, is a equal employment and staffing specialist in the Base Affirmative Employment Office. She graduated from Perry Central High School, Perry, N.Y., and later from the State University of New York, Albany, N. Y., with a bachelors degree and from the Mississippi College for Women, Miss., with a masters degree. She is married to Robert Perry and they have three children: Kip, Scott and Jeff. She is the daughter of Helen Flynn of Silver Lake, N.Y., and Richard Gijjtofc' appreciate the chance that theyre allowing us to use the property for a dual purpose, she said. The council also authorized a study along Shady Lane and 1400 East that could lead to installation of a stop sign. Complaints about "using the street as a race track" have been lodged by residents. Some action may be contemplated although the matter is currently under study, Mrs. Provost approved with the Davis County School District. It will cover the Burton Elementary School site, Mrs. Provost explained. "The city will be responsible for installing site improvements and handle any maintenance. In a related item, she said the Wasatch Front Regional Council will start providing a Trafficker program. It would mean traffic engineering assistance could be provided to smaller cities such as Fruit Heights where no staff is on board to handle such duties. The WFRCs P.D. Families are invited to enjoy an hour of popular favorites and traditional classics as well as original music composed especially for the ensemble. LACE is a adult mixed choir that has performed for civic and church groups over the past two years. Their repertoire in- cludes a wide range of music, from classical to popular. Recently the The Saloonkgroup presented eeper's Daughter, a musical melodrama sponsored by the Layton Arts Council. Kathy Skidmore directs the group, with Helen Farnsworth as accompanist. Two original compositions were written for the concert by members of the choir; The Gift, words and music by Dennis Wright, and Star Child, words by Dr. Joel Passy and music by Dr. Jeff Fokens. The choral group will present a half hour program on Dec. 27 at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. LACE is available for parties and socials.
