The justices proclaimed that school officials do not have unlimited authority to regulate student behavior, said King. In this case, concerning a students right to wear an armband in protest of the Vietnam War, the court ruled that the school policy against such expression was based on a desire to stem controversy, a desire not connected with the efficient administration of a school. A leading trial KAYSVILLE attorney, speaking at a conference for Davis County teachers and administrators, said students do not occupy the same legal position as adults but they dont shed their constitutional rights at the school-hous- e door. Felshaw King, a member of the Utah Trial Lawyers Association, reviewed student and school-base- d court cases at a constitutional seminar sponsored by the Davis County School Inservice Department. The seminar was one in a series covering student rights, Leading the 8th grade class at Syracuse Junior High School are: Troy Trujillo, 2nd vice president; Karen Child, president and Shaylee Bennett, 1st vice president.
