Clay All-rewas approved by the council-meThere are twenty-thre- e city employees and they received boosts from $10 a month for clerical workers, to $25 a month for police officers of intermediate grade. Other increases varied between these two figures depending on the classification of employees on the citys pay system. Iiezone Project Clearfield city councilmen took under advisement this week the problem of rezoning a triangular piece of property between 550 East street and Highway 91 from residential to commercial. The request to rezone came from Royal Sessions, a member of the citys planning commission. The area includes the land located across the street from the North Davis Junior High school. d, R n. Joseph Cook Named Counselor At North Davis Stake Conference North Davis Stake Conterence Clearfield Joseph Cook, principal of the North Davis Junior High School, was sustained as new counselor in the North Davis stake presidency at stake conference Sunday. He replaces Keith Smith,-whhas recently moved to Salt Lake City. Mr. Smith served in this capacity for the past four years since the reorganizaiton of the stake, when the old stake was divided into Layton stake and the present North Davis stake. Mr. Cook has been serving as a high councilman. George S. Ha slam is the president and Harvey Broad-bethe other counselor in the presidency. At the same meeting, Lincoln Gardner was sustained as a high councilman. He has been serving as president of the Seventies quorum and in the presidency of the North Davis stake mission. He is an instructor at the North Davis Junior High School. Elder Adam S. Bennion represented the General L.D.S. Church leaders at the conference which drew a record crowd of 1905 members to the morning session on Sunday and 1740 to the afternoon session, the latter which was the best attendance at a like session since the division four years ago. Elder Bennion also spoke to the special priesthood meeting on Saturday night held in the Clearfield First and Third ward and attended by 002 persons. Elder Bennion held the attention of the conference goers with talks filled with bits of humor and wisdom and words of advice for applying the gospel teachings in the lives of the members. He also elaborated on what the gospel as the Saint is taught should Latter-day mean in the way of satisfaction, help and as a way of life, unique in many respects from other religions of the world. He advised the use of the welfare plan and the storing of the year or twos supply of food. He also suggested that the scriptures be read and better understood.
