But you do need a special kind of cookie mixture that you can mold in your fingers, and the recipe is given here. After, you read it, youll know why these bite size beauties make everyone Bon! Bon Bon Cookies Cookies: 2 cups Crisco 1 1 4-- cup confectioners sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract teaspoon salt cups sifted flour Candied cherries Pecan or walnut halves Semisweet chocolate pieces Pitted dates teaspoon almond extract teaspoon orange extract Decoration: 1 cup confectioners sugar 12 cup semisweet Multicolored nonpareils chocolate pieces Chocolate sprinkles 2 teaspoons Crisco Silver dragees 2 tablespoons corn syrup Red food color About 3 tablespoons milk 2 Beat to oven 375F. Start heating cups Crisco with 1 cup conin extracts and salt, then Beat well blended. until fectioners sugar flour until well blended. Then, using just enough dough to cover mould it around each cherry. Repeat with nut halves, dates and chocolate using 3 or 4 semisweet pieces for each cookie. (If room is very warm, refrigerate dough until ready to use). Bake on cookie sheet, lightly greased with Crisco, 10 to 20 minutes or until tinged with brown. Let cool. kTo Decorate: Over hot, not boiling water, melt 12 cup chocolate pieces with 2 teaspoons Crisco, stir in until smooth 2 tablespoons corn syrup anc 2 tablespoons of milk. Mix 1 cup confectioners sugar with 2 or 3 teaspoons milk. Dip tops of some of cookies in melted chocolate, then in nonpareils. Frost others with sugar mixture then dot with silver dragees. Tint rest of sugar mixture pink with food coloring, roll cookies in it, then in chocolate sprinkles. Also roll some of cookies in confectioners sugar, or frost on one end and dip in coconut. Let set before storing.
