This area includes the drainages north into Wyoming of the Uinta Mountains from the Bear River on the west to the dividing ridge between Burnt Fork and Beaver Creek on the east. Hunters going into this area were advised to respect no trespassing signs posted by private land owners on the West Fork of Bear River, where livestock is being held during the late grazing season. Longer seasons, extended weekend hunts, ten districts where the Board set unlimited extra doe permits, and several other management rulings are all shown in the 1955 deer hunting proclamation. Muskrat and mink are the only furbearers that may be legally taken in Utah on the regular $6 trapping license. Residents only may trap. The commission move in setting the long continuous season for trapping muskrats was in answer to increasing complaints concerning the damaging activities of these furbearers in both private and public waterways. The longer season is expected to reduce these problems. The season for taking muskrats d on waterfowl marshes will not begin until February 15. Trapping on these areas will be under the direct supervision of the department of fish and game. The marshes are Farmington Bay, Ogden Bay, Clear Lake, Stewart Lake, "Public Shooting Grounds, and Locomotive Springs. The department said any licensed trapper may apply for a certified permit at no cost to trap these marshes. If more applications are received than the number of trappers needed to harvest the fur crop on any one marsh, a drawing will be held to determine those who will be awarded permits. Regulations call for all trapping seasons to begin at noon on the opening day. Traps may not be staked or set before this hour. Commission action set the season when mink may be trapped as noon, November 1, to February state-owne- 28, 1050.
