Students from throughout the United States have signed up to attend the workshop which precedes the 11th annual National Childrens Theatre Conference on the Ute tampus August Participants in the institute will assist in the preparation and presentation of several plays for the national meeting. In addition, they will receive concentrated training in creative theatre writing, acting, directing; creative dramatics; creative designing and staging; publicity and management; and ballet theatre. Dr. C. Lowell Lees, director of the University of Utah Theatre and speech department chairman, will head the Young People's Theatre Institute staff. Guest lecturer will be Virginia Lee Comer, author and editor who specializes in creative dramatics. University of Utah staff members William F. Christensen, director of ballet; Gail Plummer and Vem Adix, manager and technical director of the campus theatre round out the list of people who will direct vvorkshop sessions. The institute has been planned to help teachers, recreation leaders, directors of community, childrens and church theatre groups gain further experience in theatre arts.
