Show January 1, 1 1 j THE JOlUtS' U. 55 Red Cross News hristmas Projects Mrs. Walter Jennings, chapter chairman of the Davis County American Red Cross, is happy to report that the Christmas projects were very successful again this year, thanks to the generosity of "5 clubs of our county. Each year we are asked to assist in making Christmas a happier occasion for the patients at the State hospital in Provo. Without the help of some of the clubs and generous citizens, we would be unable to do this. Over 2." 0 gifts were packed and taken to the hospital by members of the Jeep Posse of Bountiful. These gifts were all new and included the following articles: Sweaters, blouses, shirts, house slippers, toilet articles, soap, candy and cookies, as well as Christmas wrappings and seals. Twenty gifts were furnished for servicemen on the high seas on Christmas day; 0 gifts for men hospitalized at Hill Air Force Base Hospital; also puzzles and games. The Sixth grade students of Farmington school made 100 attractive favors and they were used at a Christmas party for patients at the Base Hospital at Hill Field. Included in the box sent to the American Fork Training School were 123 bars of soap and articles of good used jewelry. Soap and small toys were included in American Legion Auxiliary Cheer Baskets from articles collected by the Junior Red Cross, which were not suitable for overseas shipment. Clothing and small toys collected were also furnished to three needy families. Mrs. Jennings wishes to express the appreciation of the Davis C Low Lines Page Muggs and Skeeter County Chapter Board for the generous response by all who assisted with these projects. She states that it is only through such generous giving that the Christmas requests assigned to the chapter could be obtained. Home Service Meeting Held Mrs. Caroline Walsh, assistant director of Home Service ARC in Pacific Area office, recently visited the Davis County chapter. A meeting was held in the chapter office. Mrs. Walsh stressed that Home Service is one of the two primary responsibilities of the Red Cross. Blood Meeting Mrs. Walter Jennings and Mrs. Frank Muir recently attended a meeting for Blood Coordinating Committee at the Salt Lake Chapter. Representatives were present from all Utah and Nevada chapters to discuss future plans for blood requirements and financing this program. Election of Officers The Annual Meeting of the Davis County Chapter, ARC, was recently held at the Layton City Hall. Election of officers was as follows: Mrs. Walter Jennings, chapter chairman; Rev. George Dreher, first vice chairman; Kendall Sedgwick, second vice chairman, and Mrs. Joseph A. Clayton, secretary, and Mrs. Rex B. Snow, treasurer. Retiring officers were: Mrs. Dar-vMiller, chapter chairman; Mrs. Harold Searle, secretary, and Vernon C. Brown, treasurer.
