Worthen of the Utah Supreme Court today announced he will be a candidate to term succeed himself for a ballot on the judicial in November. A prominent Provo attorney for j many years and former district Judge, incumbent Justice Worthen was appointed by Gov. J. Bracken 'Lee in April of this year to succeed Chief Justice James H. Wolfe, who resigned. Justice Worthen was born at St. George of pioneer parents. He taught school prior to entering the 10-ye- ar non-partisa- n i legal profession. He received his A.B. degree at 'Brigham Young University and his doctor of jurisprudence degree from University of California. He is a member of the Utah County Bar Association, the Utah State Bar and the American Bar Association. Justice Worthen served in the armed forces in World War I and has been active in the American Legion of which he is a past Utah Department commander. He has been active in Utah legal circles for many years. For 15 years he served as a member of the Commission for Promotion of Uniform State Laws. He stated that the county has warned that action will be taken against people dumping garbage enroute to the proper area and that if the dump itself is not used for this purpose it will he closed. Luncheon was served following the demonstration and the rest of the day was spent by the members in quilting, etching glassware and making earrings.
