Easter, EASTER LAYER CAKE 2Va cups sifted Swans Down Gnke Flour 2 Vi teaspoons double-actin- g baking powder 1 teaspoon salt Vi cup shortening IV: cups sugar f, &A f.a. "x. X' ? i&.W4A-b- ', , , t i hide-and-see- eggs, unbeaten Milk (see below for amount) I teaspoon vanilla 1 pkg. Bakers Shredded Coconut With butter, margarine, or lard, use 1 cup milk. With vegetable or 'any other shortening, use 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk. Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift together three times. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating very thoroughly after each. Then add flour mixture alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla and blend. Turn into two round layer pans, IV2 inches deep, which have been lined on bottoms with paper. Bake in moderate oven (375F.) 25 . to 30 minutes. Frost with fluffy frosting.
