Show AUGUST 2, 1951. Fish and Game Department Shipments of Yellowstone native trout eggs totalling approximately 1,300,000 are now. being processed at several of the 12 state hatcheries. A total of 3, (KM), 000 such eggs are expected to be received within the next few weeks. Fry and fingerling trout from these eggs will be used chiefly to stock lakes and streams in the high country. Most of these waters are off the roadways and beaten trails where they must be planted by horse or mule pack. They include the Uintah, Boulder, Thousand Lake, Escalante, and other sections. Such plantings annually reach their peak during the month of August. Native trout eggs from Yellowstone Lake come to the Utah Fish and Game department thru a cooperative agreement with the U. S. fish and wildlife service. Field men from the Utah department go to the Yellowstone each spring where they participate in the egg taking during the spawning runs from the lake. The state receives the eggs in exchange for their work. Wardens Bob Jensen of Gunnison, Virgil Weidman of Tremonton, and Virgil Draney of American Fork worked during the egg taking at Yellowstone Lake this spring. 3 TI1E JOURNAL hunting seasons, a multiple of questions regarding the special hunts are coming to the Fish and Game Department offices.
