The delicious aroma of roast beef and cherry pie enticed many to the dinner tables in the basement where the meal tasted as good as its smell promised. Unique favors at each place consisted of a tiny red hatchet imbedded into a small chopping block fastened to a cherry decorated white base holding a small cup of candy. The dinner was followed by a piogram in the chapel where Dr. L. Q. Noble extension director at the Agricultural College spoke on the subject of Patriotism. There were also several musical numbers on the violin by Harry Isaac and Mrs. Esther Davenport. Rev. Price was master of ceremonies while Mrs. Beryl Mackey acted as pianist. Mrs. Lee Johnson also gave a short talk entitled The duties of a Navy Wife. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to recondition the basement rooms of the church.
