UTAH (S On August 9, annual encampment oi Daclubs will be held in Mueller nis county rate. Each goes on at an town and community has its groups, who gather in weekly meetings, under the guidance of an adult leader, discuss club matters and receive lessons on some phase of work. For the boys these lessons are on some farming subject, and for the girls on some such as cooking aspect of and sewing. More skillful farmers and better homes will result and both are basic requirements for a healthy and prosperous nation. ever-increasi- 4-- H 4-- H Friends and relatives have been invited to join 4:H club members and leaders in the outing, and a large number of people from all sections of the county will assemble for a day of fun and recreation. Included in the day's activities will be a canyon breakfast, a nature hike, treasure hunt, and various races and contest. The climax will come that night when the. crowd will gather around a mammoth campfire and witness an outstanding program. Special guests have been invited and an unusually fine period of entertainment is expectPark. 4-- H home-makin- g, Young minds, in the formulative stage, will not remain inactive, but, a prey to outside influences and the impress of environment, will reach out after ideas, and will mould impressions and influences into concepts and opinions. Where unwholesome influences and impressions are at work, unwholesome concepts and opinions will grow. Likewise a healthy atmosphere will breed a healthy and desirable trait of mind. It is in club work does its this respect that greatest good. ed."'' This outing will bring together a group people who are a real asset to the county boys and girls who have combined a mutual desire for worthwhile activity and achievement inta club work, and adults who have taken an active interest in these clubs and extended them a guiding hand in their many commendable pursuits. Hundreds of boys and girls are enrolled in the many clubs that have been organized in Davis county. Throughout the nation thousands of young rural people profit from their work. It is a participation in movement for good that has grown in size and popularity until it has Reached into every hamlet and community in the land. The influence has over its young members is that of nurturing within them an incentive toward achievement and a gratification in accomplishment. It is the type of influence that will surely make for a bettor and more prosperous America, peopled hy a more industrious and creative generation of citizens. For this, club work merits the praise and support of us all. Here in Davis county club activity of 4-- H 4-- H activity the thoughts and energies of our young people are being diverted into productive and enlightening channels. Young hands are set at work on worthwhile projects, young minds are engaged in creative and broadening considerations, and young hearts learn the quickening beat that comes with the pleasure of individual and group accomplishment. In 4-- H 4-- H t 4-- H 4-- H 4-- H ng 4-- H The clubs, with their thousands of members, and their leaders, are indeed doing an invaluable service to the nation and the community. We in Davis county can take pride in the group of citizens who will assemble at Mueller Park on August 9. We take our hats off to them, and may their kind grow and flourish. 4-- H . |
