Show OBITUARY NOTES MOTES MARY MAKY ANN BOND died at hennefer utah dec 21 1896 mary ann wife of william bond aber a painful and severe illness of rheama tiani of the heart and dropsy she was buried on the the funeral service was conducted by elder W W cluff pre president ol of the stake who spoke words of consolation and comfort to the bereaved relatives and friends the hymns sang were on pages page 85 and ot of the latter day saints hymn book mother bond was born dec 10 1821 at white smi hy by bar near manchester england she was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day sain s by james williams december 1840 at blakeley england emigrated to 10 america and wen to fall river mas mag in 1848 where her husband was president of the branch of the church to which she belonged she with him doing all that lay in her power to promulgate the gospel tidings until the year 1856 I 1 when she with her husband and family journeyed I 1 to iowa they pitched their tents for sixteen weeks waiting for the hand cans can a to 10 be made in that memorable year and following the same to the valleys of the mountain doing all that ibal she could to relieve the hungry sick and dying landed in provo utah county utah in december of the same year in 1858 rhe he with her husband and family moved to salt lake city and resided there until 1862 then ihen moved to hennefer Heu nefer where she resided to the time of her decease mother bond when able was always ready and willing to assist the frick and afflicted she was the mother of thirteen children eight of whom survive her bar five sons and three daughters alto alt aro o tev bev enty eniy one dile grande grandchildren hildren and twenty six great grandchildren she was a good wife and faithful aith ful mother true to the last during her illness the t i he bad every a i hat hai loving hands bands could bestow by both relatives and friends to soothe and comfort her aching heart until god re her of her pain so as to go to the giver of all god she was ass worthy for the fol following loing incident to be recorded for the memory of dear ones left to 0 mourn lier her loss she was called to salt lake city to attend her daughters sick child at ai a time when there was no bridge avor over the weber river as the ibe water wats was very deiy high so mother like anxious to go she at ai once told her son and o in to got get bishop richen enla ena a large wayon wagon and two yoke of oxen to risk the stream she suggested to her son to tie a bed cord around her waist should the current upset the wagon and for him to get the one end of the rope and swim ashore and pull her safely to land but thanks to the giver of all good she and her sons landed badely and she went on her way in conclusion I 1 will say that she had bad a large funeral and doubtless many more would have been pre ent eni had bad it not been fur for the inclemency of abd tbd tb weather may she lobe rest real in peace until the morn of the first resurrection when her loved ones will meet in the heaven of rest where pain and aad sorrow is no known she died as rhe bhe lived a faithful lat ter day saint and in lull hope of a glorious resurrection the above facts were given to the writer by her eldest son sonar mr john bond ol 01 blackfoot Black foo idaho B R A JONES salt lake herald and tribune please copy |
