Merriam, son of Jeanette Merriam of 1065 Wall Ave., Ogden, Utah, has been assigned to Lowry Air Force Base, Colo., after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree in ap plied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Happy grandparents Obituaries Elva Loretta Jensen Funeral services for Elva Loretta Jensen, 82, w ho died on September 2, 1981, in the Utah Valley Hospital, were held in the Fairview North Ward Chapel on September 5, 1981 . Interment was in the Fairview City Cemetery. Mrs. Jensen was born on January 14, 1899, in Fairview, to James Leon ard Rigby and Elvira Ann Spencer. She spent most of her life in Fairview. She married Shirley Lionel Jensen on July 10, 1918 in the Manti LDS Temple. She served in many church positions throughout her life. She was a visiting teacher for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley; he died October 2, 1980 and a daughter, Vora who died on January 4, 1981. Ellis Day Coombs Ellis Day Coombs, 98, passed away September 4, 1981, in Provo, Utah. She was born March 1, 1883, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Eli A. and Eliza Jane Staker Day Sr. She married Leslie McLean Coombs on June 2. 1909. in the Manti LDS Temple. He died February 7. 1917. Mrs. Coombs obtained her B.S. Degree from BYU in 1946. She was a teacher in public and church schools for 42 years. In 1920 she was called by the LDS Church to take a course in new methods of welfare work and held the position of Stake Relief Society Welfare Director for many years. She also served as a teacher in Relief Society, Sundav School and YWMIA. She served as the first captain of the North Bend (Fairview) DUP and was also Sanpete DUP county president. Survivors include one son, two daughters-- cslie C, Coombs, Cuiiallo, Calif. , presently serv ingin the Scotland, Edinburgh mission; Mrs. J. Golden (Esther) Durfey, Bickncll; Mrs. Dora Jacobs, Tooele; 12 grandchildren; brothers and two sisters: Joseph S. Day, Arthur M. Day, Mrs. John (Roena) Anderson and Mrs. Marlow (Nola) Dearden.
