Everyone has a color aura. Color experts can look at us and see our color aura. We all have an inner essence that can be expressed through personal color harmony and style. Our choice of Color reveals our personality, effects our physical appearance, and affects our moods. Color enters into every phase of our lives, whether we realize it or not. We consider color in choosing our clothes, our our jewelry, makeup, homes, cars and even the food we eat. One who responds sensitively to color, who thrills keenly to nature's endless varied effect or to the skillful use of color in the environment, knows something of lifes rich experiences. And one who develops a growing understanding of its use has opened up intriguing new vistas of enjoyment and satisfaction. Color is dynamic. It not to the only appeals intellect, but influences our emotions. The old expression, seeing red and feeling blue, are indications of definite attitudes toward color. Natures endless color spectrum also suggests many moods. We feel blue when it rains. The golden sunlight makes us warm and happy." The silver moonlight, suggests a "romantic mood. The white sand on the beach relaxes us. While the white snow in winter is invigorating. On every hand we are confronted with the need for making color decisions especially in the choice of the selection of clothing. Color has invaded the field of mens apparrel in the last ten years to the extent not seen for many decades. Some people are afraid to use color because they do not understand how. In fact, color in itself has become our most plentiful and inexpensive tool. What, for example, can give a room the immediate lift of a budget coat of paint? A few sofa pillows, new lamp shades, well placed plants any of these if chosen as color part of a scheme can provide an immediate and refreshing change of pace. One of the most attractive and popular methods of decorating is to use hanging plants in colorful pots and plant hangers. Plants can be placed or hung in every room for effect, especially the bathroom as the extra moisture makes them grow. Some window sills are broad enough to hold plants. You may find it necessary to buy one or two tall plants to fill in the corner of a room and to get the right height for proper balance in the room. The two most basic moods that colors can ereate are warm and cool. Blue and gteen are cool colors, appropriate for any room where activity is quiet and low key, such as living room and bedroom. Green is especially effective in providing an easyserene friendly-moodgoing, As in nature, green combines nicely with almost any other color. The blues are more frosty, formal hues. Red and yellow are exciting, and stimulating, used more effectively in kitchen, family room or areas that are the center of activ ity or recreation. Red is bold and conspicuous. The presence of red is always sensed immediately. Low key red is used liberally. Yellow brings the vitality of sunlight into a room, and makes any room come alive. Remember that reflects light and be not should used excessively in a sunny room. Quiet colors, neutrals, gray, beige, or do not readily have a distinct color of their own. They do not demand attention or set a mood. These colors are a perfect backdrop for bright commanding objects and colors, because they will never compete for the spotlight. Extreme black and white, are striking members of the color world. When used together black and white provide knife edge contrast that offers great impact and drama. Keep in mind that white is one of the most effective Black reflectors. light yellow e non-color- absorbs light with great efficiency. Other important considerations to keep in mind: the budget, will you spend for decorating? Will you do one room at a time, or the complete house? of the work can you do yourself? Can you call on family members for help? Friends or relatives? Will you need the services of a professional decorator? Check the good pieces (solid wood) of furniture that you have. Will any of the pieces need refinishing, and can you do the work yourself? Find wavs of selling the furniture that you no longer need. Select styles and wood tones that go well how-muc- How-muc- together. Try not to mix your woods too much. How about paintings? It is good to invest in one or two good paintings. They always add much charm to any well decorated room. In conclusion be sure to choose your accessories to complement your furnishings. Select serviceable and attractive materials. Choose livable and lov able colors. Do as much of the work as possible yourself. Learn as much about color, style, scale and balance as possible. No matter how much you learn about color, fresh ideas are always just around the corner.
