Show AAUW Publishes Data on Your Mental Health Regulatory, Advisory Boards The Utah State Division of the American Association of University Women has published Opportunities for Utah Citizens in State Government. This compilation of information about regulatory and advisory boards has been distributed to Utah governor Scott M. Matheson and various state officials, county clerks, all libraries, public! university and law, and some 150 organizations throughout the state. AAUW members researched the Utah Code Annotated, 1953 and assembled data to provide the general public with information that has not been easily accessible to citizens. 1 he compilation, w hich w as funded by a State Division Public Service Grant given by the AAUW Educational by Theron Sondrup Foundation, Washington, D.C., was undertaken to provide citizens with data so that more citizens will be knowledgeable about state boards and submit applications when vacancies occur. Members of the Sanpete County Branch of AAUW, who have researched data and aided in the distribution of the compilation locally are Judith Olson, Nellie Toone, Kristeen Curtis, Oreal Olsen, Katie Jean Larsen, Ruth Olson, Enola Mangelson, Polly Willardson and Cherl Olmstead. Copies of the book will be on file in the bookmobile, Ephraim City Library, Snow College Library, Manti City Library, and the Mt. Pleasant City Library. On September 16, 1976 the Central Utah Community Mental Health Center sponsored an open house to acquaint Sanpete County residents, school personnel, church officials and agency representatives with the program and facilities available to Sanpete County. Many came to view the facility and learn of the services offered. As was explained then, the Center offers a comprehensive program to the residents ot the county. The services are: 1. Inpatient services services dealing with hospitalization of persons needing help on a basis for a period of time. 2. Outpatient services direct services to persons, including marriage counseling, individual counseling, conjoint family counseling. Here the problem might be one of communication, parent-childifficulties, emotional stress, depression, anxiety, family or disequalibrum any number of difficulties. 3. Partial hosptializa-tioservices the treatment alternative to full time hospitalization. 4. Emergency services require staff personnel to be available 24 hours a day. Consultation and education services here the Center may be dealing with another agency, a school, or individual, a physician, or an ea textual leader. 6. Services to children those include a full range of diagnostic, treatment, liasonand follow-uservices. 7 Services to elderlv these include consultive services to nursing home as required They also include a full range of diagnostic, treatment and liason services. 8. Screening services these services are designed to assess, plan for and link individuals with appropriate services to be provided in the least restrictive setting possible. p 9. Follow-u- care p this serv ice is prov ided for residents of the county who have been discharged from the State Hospital. Transitional 10. ices ser-- v these are serv ices to persons who would require inpatient care if such services werent afforded. These include rehabilitation serv ices and support services. 11. Alcoholism and alcohol abuse services this program is for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of alcohol abusers and alcoholics. These services are co ordinated with the outreach worker for drug and alcohol abuse services for the county. 12. Drug addiction and this drug abuse service service is designed for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug uses and those with a dependency problem. The centers purpose is to promote positive mental health by helping individuals and families become better adjusted and better able to cope with the dav frustrations of life. On a primary lev el one of the main goals of the center is to provide services that will help prevent severe emotional disturbances.
