Anderson of Manti are happy to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Beverly to A. C. Pierce Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Pierce of Oy U.S. Senator Orrin G. Hatch Just when you'd think the Congress was getting the country's message about cutting taxes and trimming budgets, it wants to give itself a 12.9 pay raise. All thats needed is for the House and Senate to do. , .nothing. President Carters 7 raise for federal employees would be added next month to a 5.9 increase that the Congress sneaked into last year's budget. Result: the second sweet lining of legislators' pockets in the last three years, and a certain loss of the remaining meager confidence of most people in Washington's politicians. The greatest insult to Utahns and other Americans is that Congress can hike its own salaries without even going on record. Since no one is accountable for an increase, then no one is to blame or so some of the politicians think. 1 believe this is a dangerous loophole in the law, and it should be eliminated as soon as possible. But revising such a law takes Elder Charles Findlay time writing the legislation. BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Mark C.
