Summer Measles Search Continues Another child ill with measles has been found in Summer this weeks Search for Measles. The 1 old child is from Sevier County where a community physician diagnosed her illness. All parents of children coming in contact with the ill child have been contacted as a result of Sevier County public health efforts. All these children are adequately immunized. Unfortunately, the source for this child's illness has not been found. This is the third child in Utah discovered to be ill with the measles this month. This most recent case of measles points out the problems that will continue to exist until this disease is eliminated in Utah and the United States. In this instance, the childs other brothers and sisters were adequately immunized; howold ever, the fb child is not yet old enough to be immunized for measles (recommended age is 15 months). U Therefore, although parents had conscientiously worked to protect their children, the youngest still became ill. The Summer Search of Measles" is a cooperative effort of health agencies in ten states designed to seek out and interrupt chains of measles oat? 15 transmission. The Summer Search is part of a national effort to eliminate measles from the United States by 1982. Another measles case has been identified in Colorado as a result of the Search. This brings the total number of measles cases found in this region to 16. In addition, five other suspect measles cases are still being investigated in Utah three in Salt Lake County, one in Sanpete County and one in Box Elder County. G!?:Z2V, VJo ccrO awcTcJ Co cvacCo iC.
