Show Marlene Cox Enjoys Homemaking Challenges by lands Black Recordkeeping, writing personal histories, sewing, growing houseplants and finishing their basement are just a few of the projects that keep Marlene Cos of Manti busy. Marlene and Rodney are the parents of sis children, and most of Marlenes projects center around her family. One her favorite pastimes has been compiling a baby book and a personal history for each child. She also sews a lot of her own clothes and those of her four daughters. She feels that although homemaking js one of the biggest challenges there is today, it is also one of the most enjoyable and rewarding. Perhaps this is the reason that Marlene believes in teaching her girls basic cooking and 1 homemaking skills. especially enjoy teaching them how to cook, and 1 feel its important, she said. When it comes to saving time in the kitchen Marlene goes for the mixes. I have them ready to make up in a hurry, she said, "and the fix-ahe- homemade ones save me time and money, Recently the First Ward, where Marlene is Relief Society president, had a demonstration on quick mixes and a book was made available to those who were interested. In summer the Coxes enjoy to the fullest the beautiful mountains surrounding Manti. They gather wood, picnic and camp frequently. Traveling and visiting friends is something else they enjoy doing together.. Most recently they have been gathering stone for their basement project. When it comes to family favorites, barbequed turkey tops the list. And Marlenes baking skills are, often put to use making her familys favorite sweet rolls.
