Show h THE MAGNA TIMES, WEST VALLEY NEW 4 c 53iu ate imi S, KFARNslOSI July 10, 2008 Noorlander i smnQidip The Fourth of July excitement is over, and its time to move on to the other activities of summer. I spent two days caning watermelons into whales, baskets, and pirate ships. An imagination helps, but it is fun to see what I can create. The artwork was for my grandsons new girlfriends family backyard gathering. I hope even one made it through the Fourth holiday without much ado. The fire in Magna was quite the thing. 1 went to the parade w ith Byron and Mary Kaaren from Magna. We sat in the Magna Senior Center, and it was delightful. I replenished my earning collection and purchased a beautiful quilt the ladies had made. its off to summer school. We start a program called Second graders, here I come! on English. Jump I always liked school. I got into my share of trouble in class. Chemistry was a challenge. Whatever w'e were told not to do, and not gi en the consequences, we as the mighty, mighty juniors tried. Jim George, who resides in Kearns, was one of my cohorts in crime. W'e blew the chemistry lab up we mixed prohibited potions. If I recall correctly. I mixed ammonia and a hardcore bleach and threw some v inegar in to see what would happen. There was a concoction in the Bunsen burner, too, that made the science faculty pull their hair. After a few sessions with my parents having to come to the school for a chat, it was decided I would study botany. I took second place at the district science fair, but never went any further w ith the sciences. It was music, literature, English, and the arts that intrigued me. Jim can tell ya all about it. W'e are both from the same place in Montana. I worked in Kearns for years as an SSW at the Kearns Community Operations office. Jim was a fireman at the fire station. It was by luck we ran into each other, but he has lived here with his family longer than 1 have. He came to Utah in 1961, and I arrived in 1965. We chat every once in aw hile. Jim sings with the Choral Arts Society under the direction of Sterling Paulson, and he helps me with the music for the children at West Keams Elementary. Yes, Jim George, you are my partner in crime. Continued from front page national sovereignty, just to name a few. It fixing Americans problems is not going to happen in either one of the major parties, Noorlander said. There has to be some type of outside influence now to put pressure on the Republican and Democratic parties. Its now time for a third party candidate. The following excerpts from a much longer conversation shed some light on this Constitution Party candidates ideas and philosophies. When asked about his view of the steady devaluation of the dollar since the Federal Reserve Act and the loss of the gold standard, he said Yes! Id be for the restoration of the gold standard. He stands strongly behind the idea that rights originate from our Creator, and are not. and never were granted to us by a gov eminent. Our fundamental rights should not be weakened and written away by the coercion of an activist judicial branch and misguided lawmakers who dont follow the principles of freedom. He stands strongly for the Second Amendment-guarantee- d right to keep and bear arms, and strongly against abortion, homosexuals being afforded special rights above and beyond the average American, and the piper.... Well, using currency is unconstitutional, and its destroying this great nation. Every time the use dollar you bill... what youre saying is thats a note that w'e owe somebody. All that money that you carry around in your pocket is nothing but a national Visa card thats been monetized for your convenience. And you cand not use currency and expect to get ahead ... We buy with debt based currency. We buy with credit cards (not meaning literally the plastic in your wallet). And thats not how you run a country'. At some point you have to pay the debt-base- d debt-base- destruction of the institution of marriage as between a man and a w'oman. States have no more legal or moral authority to create marlaws passing same-se- x abortion than or they riage would have the legal oi moral authority to pass law; legalizing rape. Its a nation al issue, and that thread o morality is interwoven in a levels of govemmen whether its at the loca state, or federal. Thats wh our constitution is mac only for a moral and rel gious people. You cann create a right that o Creator has already ruh upon. On the issue of the Soc See Noorlander" on page There is another person I had some great times in school w ith, and f was told he lives in Magna. If you are out there, Sookie Douglas, and read this, call. Ive slowed down a hale bit, but I still like to think I am full of a wee tu of mischief! j worked at the Red Cross all last week, as we are getting icady to put together community ready teams and teach people what to do with the training they have received.
