They ran the Magna Passport Questionaire to see what people knew about Magna and - its past. If you knew it all, you were entered to win some pnes The Band Lvergicen played a lot of songs that attendants knew. Iaits of companies came to support this eent One booth had The Boy Scouts of America teaching about how to become a better person and building character. Scout Master John Hutchingson said, If boy scouts are taught from about seven tol 8- ears-olhe w ill be a good citizen to the community There was a Just Dance Ixxith and they were there to help keep kids off the streets by getting them involved in dance It was run by Celeste Kensmoe and Jessie Bateman. In another Ixxith there was Magna Fact and that was mn by Kathy Webb. Other companies were Washington Mutual, and the Magna Town Council as well. All of this was done to help with the prevention of enme in Magna and a lot of other cities too Many thanks to those who helped bring this together and who participated. Over 200 companies donate to this event every year, a special thank you for all the donations, sponsors and volunteers, which with out them the successful Magnas Night Out Against Cnme would not happen. I ; vividly remember the green Scottish cari- cature printed on the brown bag just like the one ) on the outdoor sign today. I made several Native American Indian fringed vests out of those I s brown paper bags at Thanksgiving time. Special thanks to Don Lund for adding insight to the Reams shopping experience ; back in the day. Over achiever Lund also ' I added that prior to Reams, that same green building housed a hardware type store called Johnsons A&G. Prior to that, it was a roller skating rink. Now for the new Magna Trivia question. If you dont know the answer to this one, you will have to turn m your Magna Membership card. Before our town was called Magna, it was called by another name. Would a rose by any t f other name smell as sweet? What was the pre- - vious name? Bonus points if you can venture a guess as to why the name was changed.
