I May 4, 2006 THE MAGNA TIMES, XS EST VALLEY NEWS, KEARNS POST COMMUNITY Lions discuss ways to help area parks Kevin Parks Astill, Director for West Valley City, met with members of the Hunter Lions last week to discuss needs in some area parks. The Lions, interested in helping is some way, invited Astill to attend their meeting to explore ways the Lions may help. . Astill explained that some of the parks need playground equipment upgrading, but city budget restraints prevent anything being done soon. Discussion indicated that the Lions are very interested in helping, but they would like to involve residents in the areas surrounding the parks needing the work. Many members agreed we can no longer .depend on our city to take care of every- - It was suggested that the Lions devise a way to work w ithin our Network Neighborhood with groups projects to help revitalize the parks. Bom on May 2, 1928, in Buffalo, New York to Stello (Stan) Lucido and Teresa Calendra Lucido. He was the youngest of five children. He served honorably in the Marines during World War II. Stan was a jack of all trades; he owned and operated many small businesses in every town he eve- r- lived. . His adventures took him from New York 'to California, ; to Nome, Alaska to Florida. This man lived his life to the fullest, from small town politics to rounding up wild horses in the Nevada desert. He married Ellen Ruth Blackett in 1949, later divorced.
