Show THE MAGNA TIMES, WEST VALLEY NEWS, KEARNS POST April 14, 2005 Editorial Lexers to the Editor Jess Advice o o o o o o o Dear Jess, I was wondering who you think should be responsible for taking care of the household finances, the partner who earns the money or the one who stays home with the children? Thank you for your advice. Tom Dear Tom, think the key word in your question is partner, it does not matter who is earning the money or who is raising the children, what matters it that the two of you work as a team to build your should future, decisions always be made together. I Dear Jess, Dear Leona, have a son who is nine and who spends way too much time watching television, he usually parks himself in front of it shortly after getting home from school and turns it off just before bedtime. I want to set limits in his TV watching but I am not sure what is the right amount of time I should allow him to watch, his grades at school are good and he really enjoys his shows how much time do you suggest I let him have? Studies show children who have television time limited in their homes do better in school and are usually healthier then those w ho have unlimited access, while no magic number has been agreed on by pediatric health professionals most agree if you help balance your child's spare time with physical activities, reading, family time and play time where imagination is used you are giving your child the tools necessary to develop into a well rounded adult. Being concerned about the amount of time your child is spending in front of the TV is a good start, limiting that time is even better. Good Luck. Editor, ciary has many problems Finally some noble citizen is standing up to the Judiciary: I was pleased to read Layne K. Abbott letter to the Editor on He talks about Federal judges being nothing more bureauthan crats. The problem is not just with the Federal judiciary, but the State and Local judi infecting it. Like a Cancer this seems to grow. Our legislature is full of Lawyers that turn a deaf-ea- r to the problem. Our Law schools are the problem. They Charge too much for entry, and they seem to not be concerned with their students charging horrendous fees when they practice Law. fore The solution to this seen by our founding fathers when they set up a jury pool. A jury has the power to Judge the Case at hand and also the Law and especially the Judge. We cannot allow the Lawyers to begin to manipulate the Jury. This is our last avenue to ensure Justice for All.
