Show 7 I 4 March THE MAGNA TIMES, WEST VALLEY NEWS & KEARNS POST 18, 2004 Editorial Lottoro to tldo Edutior Outraged Citizen speaks out Dear Editor, I am sick to my stomach after watching Channel 4 News last night, especially when I heard about a child in my community that has been subjected to such cruel abuse and willfUl neglect and that there are currently other children living in that home and the parents are not facing any charges at this point What more evidence do you need to get these people the serious help and intervention they need? Why has that child been overlooked and forgotten about for years? What is wrong with our system that loses children? What is wrong with the parents of this child? What is wrong with society for letting this happen and going unnoticed? Was there no neighbor or family A message from am so thrilled that spring is here. There are days I feel like I live in a calendar, things are so beautiful. Every time I drive anywhere, I see snow capped mountains and miles of blue skies. The view really is picture per-- ; feet. So enjoy it and send me your letters. 1 Sincerely, Naomi LeGere member concerned, until recently? Was there no church and or school and stable environment free from abuse and neglect I have sent emails in the past to foster care officials to offer assistance and never heard a word. How can we help? How can we prevent this kind of tragic and gross loss of caring in our community? I stand ready I want to know. and willing to help. Please let me know what kind of action we can take and how we can do better in our community to work with the Division of Child and Family Services to prevent this horrific occurrence from ever happening group in the area concerned about its neighbors or this child? Was this child not enrolled in any school? Did this child's name just disappear after birth? As a proud citizen in Magna's community and as a and grandparent of four of parent two, am absolutely sickened to my stomach that such cruelty and abuse could occur without anyone's knowledge and if people (authorities) did know., why did this child suffer for so long without intervention? Not only do I want to know why and how such a tragedy could occur, I specifically want answers from the' Division of Child and Family Services about who was responsible for this tragic oversight of a child? I also want to know how I can help? I have room in my home for more children. We offer a loving hard-worki- 1 again! How do you people think that you can keep breading like cock roaches and that we will still be able to live like we do? It is obvious that there is only so much land and natural resources to go around. That is unless you ask a g typical, simpleton, that will surely tell you that there is plenty of room for more people. Or, how about, there are souls waiting to come down from "Heaven." Have you ever stepped back and listened to yourselves. brain-washe- d. God-fearin- snowfall, now we get to look forward to another summer of drought. You know, the great summers without even being able to have campfires while being out enjoying the true greatness of this state, the land. So welcome to Zion, home to California's rejects, Mexicos finest speakersleamers and the ones who started this state, claim this state and who are attempting to repopulate andor convert the rest of the planet. We live here in Utah, a desert state with limited amounts of natural resources, especially WATER! I am not talking about youth sports, high school sports, college sports and other sports activities. I believe in youth and college sports...that's about it Too bad we cant get so many people interested in the federal debt, the record twin trade and government budget deficits, nearly 50,000 people slaughtered on our highways every year, the fight against diseases and bettering our country in general. It takes me no time at all to see that professional sports has winners and losers. The winners are usually the team owners and officials, TV networks taking up valued broadcast time with these d games and even the players at fantastic wages. The losers are usually the fans who half the time think they won something, but only win the right to attend more over-rate- over-pric- ed games. As government propaganda, much of the professional sports propaganda is centered about misplaced "loyalty. This is what they sell fear of you being considered not loyal because you question the scheme of things. How "loyal have players been to ; YOU when they went on strike against you? How "loyal have team owners been when they have jacked up ticket prices in tandem with the national debt? Huh? I have only once witnessed a professional football game from start to sports-ov- er end. I was bored beyond belief. All I saw were highly impressionable people stand up and yell and throw their harms up in the air when someone wasn't moving a pig skin orb down the grass quickly enough to suit them. No study has ever been done, that I am aware of, of the heart attacks that have occurred in sports stadiums around the country as thousands of sports fans make the effort to walk to and from these modem in a good gym somewhere. And it would probably cost them a lot less. Instead of expending this loss of time and talent 4n stadium seating. day Roman colosseums from the parking lots. It is an exhausting exercise for many of them, I am sure. The huffing and puffing could power 1,000 steam locomotives. The final gasps of the old Roman Empire hold not a candle to this crowd. Many of these "fans don't know the names of their congressmen, or how much in hock the politicians have gotten them in Yet exchange for their "votes. many can tell you player numbers, home towns, statistics and weights and heights of people they have never even met A neighbor never misses a sports game and knows every statistic and license number of players cars, yet he forgot his own wife's birthday. How in this world so many people will pay good money to walk so far and sit and yell at is beyond me. What some of these good folks need to do is go to a gym, not to the sports stadium. Instead of pulling beers and hot dogs up to themselves they should be pulling up to weight loss machines these good fellow citizens should be getting paid for their work at an extra part-tim- e job or by doing some work around the home and getting some credit for it with the "signifi- multi-millionair- es emphasized out of the vets group because he was behind on his bar tab. Even if your "team" wins, you lose in You have just encounbook. my tered another round of price increases to keep watching by going back to see additional "championship" games. Because the major TV networks, major movie companies and "sports magazines" are all tied in together with Wall Street to hype professional sports, don't look for an end to cant other." Why not do something for YOURSELF instead of supporting whining Why don't we extend "professional" sports to such competitive sports as jacks, marbles, kite flying, taffy pulling and hog calling? They are just about as exciting. We are playing the fiddle while Rome bums. Tens of millions sit as zombies in front of the TV set and cheer on "sports as our globalist corporafigures tions that are taking our technology ar.d jobs to China and India televise some silly commercials in support of this destruction of our nation's s? multi-millionai- re reason. One "sports fan" openly admitted to me that he paid $6 for a can of beer, $6 for a hot dog and $10 to park his car so he could use his $60 ticket at a "ball game. He's behind on his credit cards and got kicked nonsense in sight TV hypes up the professional sports for ratings and to get "ad revenue," so the TV networks are certainly not going to tell you this stuff. Do you think the major TV news networks are going to bark about a system such as this when they are in on it by being an actual part of it? Here's my "sports tip" to you. And that is, take all of this sports money and buy something in your own name, even if overpriced stocks. At least if a company you have money invested in wins, you get to win, too. The only people see actually "winning" in pro sports are the players, managers and owners. Do they even send YOU a card at Christmas time? Do they remember you on your birthday? People have pictures, posters, banners, clothing and even waste baskets with their "sports heroes" on, but does even one of these sports "heroes" know your name or where 1 you live? Before I ticket to a pro sports game, I would pay to see the lions in the stadium. Bring on the Democrats and Republicans and let them fight each other to the death. At least they won't double and triple the seat prices for the "championship finals." What we have here in professional sports is a racket almost as large as the government in Washington. If beliex e J in conspiracies, I would think they were mixed up with each other due to all of the propaganda and hype that sounds a lot alike. Ever notice how much "sports jive and political jive resemble each other? About the only difference is the pro ball leagues have not yet issued their own paper "money." One good thing professional sports teams have done is drain many a Florida city out of any surplus tax funds to worry about spending.' About all they want are taxpayers to build them more "stadiums." Today's Hollywood, TV network and "famous faces" are about the only thing that comes close to being 1 tit is multi-millionai- r' vy re would buy one more so over-rate- d. It's overall a racket I wish I had thought about first CJhis is a tongue in cheek piece, though some will not consider it in jest.) It was written by columnist Bill I listed who felt since he was making all of this up, he would create an old Earle character of cranky Codger."
