The city was chosen to host the traveling exhibition due to its "rich diversity," said Aida Mattingley, chairwoman of the West Valley Arts Council and a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Humanities Council. The Smithsonian visit is being made possible through the Museum on Main Street program, which is a partnership between state humanities councils and the Smithsonian Institute, which typically serves small town museums and citizens of rural America.
