The Cyprus High varsity baseball team competed in y j the 2003 Easter Classic Baseball Tournament in Las . Vegas April achieving a record. , Close margins decided all four Cyprus games. Cyprus was one of 54 high school baseball teams from across die United States playing in the twelfth annual Easter Classic tour; The Pirates entered spring break with a 10-- 1 record, including a Region 5 leagueleading 0 record. Following the Easter holiday tourney, the Cyprus dia- mond squad claimed a commendable 11 4 overall record. 17-1- 9, 7-- 1- -3 by Dale Simons "When I heard about Karl Malone having Ns , argu- th ment with Larry Miller, I immediately fell asleep and began to snore" Book of Hag -- - ney. Some of the best prep baseball teams nationwide -- Palo Verde 7, Cyprus 4 Homestanding Pa lo Verde High of Nevada surged to an early lead and in Las Vegas tourney staved off several Cyprus rallies to post a win on April 17. Cyprus pitcher Joe Ellis struck out 10 Palo Verde batters in the complete-game pitching loss. 7-- 4 Foothill 3, Cyprus 1 Cyprus gained an early lead, only to allow Foothill High of California to inch back to tie and then go ahead for a 1 decision on April 18. Reliever Reggie Fisher hurled the final 2 innings and was charged with the pitching loss. -- Belen Jesuit 7, Cyprus 6 In the April 19 closing game of the Las Vegas tourney, the Cyprus Pirates , -- The trouble with Karl is he is always bearing false witness against himself, but Karl Malone gotta do what Karl Malone gotta do. Karl has personified the scripture that teaches: He that sucketh silver, shall not be satisfied therewith. So, hes looking for a new contract One that allows him to buy another ranch. I dont really think Karl is going anywhere. , If he goes to L.A. hell never see die ball, ICobi and Shaq will have it all the time. If he goes to Dallas, Kirk Nowitske will play ahead of him and so, I sleep on and snore. If Karl, he of the big biceps and fragile ego, stays here for another two or three years, he will break Jabbars record. Why? Because, the Jazz throw poor Karl the ball every time Stockton brings die ball down the floor. So, stick around Karl, so we can sleep and snore, and you can score. So, Mark Jackson quit the Runnin Utes basketball team. So what. I can still sleep and snore. Players quit up there every year. They will have to get someone else to take his spot Who will it be? I think Ill take a nap until 1 find out. Jackson is a very good player. Majerus was probably trying to make him better. Some players resent that No w onder some coaches cant sleep; as for me, I sleep well and snore. I had a couple of operations to cure my snoring. It was embarrassing to open and close drawers ami make the drapes shake. They opened up my nares, . trimmed the uvula and took away the post nasal drip. All this just gave me more volume and so I sleep on, oblivious to the Jazz or the Utes. I sleep on, rejoicing in the scripture which says: The nose is as die Tower of Lebonen, which leaneth towards , Damacus Ill tell you what does keep me awake; wondering if die Cyprus baseball team can win the state championship. Oh great day. Im hoping. Sometimes, I sleep so lightly that I dont even snore. Anxiety will do that to you. Surge on Pirates, that we may all sleep die sleep of contented men, and snore. 5 Simons Says: The way Karl Malone believes in himself is very refresh' ing in these atheistic . times when so many believe in no God at all HunterCyprus youth baseball game summaries Pee Wee Division Angel pitchers Ethan Kiefting and Trent Atkin pitched four inning each allowing only eight runs in die game.
