BLODGETT EDITOR Eleven lovely contestants will put everything on the line Friday as they compete for the 1999 "Miss West Valley" royalty. The WVC beauty and scholarship pageant will be held in the Hunter High School auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m. The pageant is part of the Miss America franchise. A queen and two attendants will be crowned, and the queen will be eligible for the Miss Utah for Miss America Pageant later this year, according to Elayne Brighton, West Valley Pageant coordinator. Candidates for this year's West Valley City Pageant are: Crystal Pace, daughter of Ron and Candy Pace, a 1999 graduate of Hunter High whose talent is dance. Angie Holden is hostess. Jami Lynn Taylor is also a 1999 graduate of Hunter High. She is a daughter of Anthony and Sherly Adams. Her talent is art presentation and his hostess is Melissa Miller. Anna Brauer, daughter of Tom and Wendy Brauer, attends Salt Lake Community college. Her talent is power tap and her hostess is Nanette Wilson. Amiee Lauber, a 1998 graduate of Granger High, sings as her talent She is a daughter of John and Laura Lauber and Kathy Jensen is her hostess. Maranda Trujillo, daughter of John and Pamela Trujillo, will dance as her talent. She is a 1999 graduate of Hunter High. Her hostess is Crystal Kelly. Mona Kelly attends Salt Lake Community College. A daughter of Wadsworth and Susan Kelly, her talent will be Middle Eastern dance. Collette Wilson is her hostess. Marisa Anderson, daughter Bill and Judy Anderson, will play the flute as he talent. A 1999 graduate of Granger High, Janeane Brighton is her hostess. Her talent is piano and her hostess Miss Magna Pageant approaches Applications are now being taken for Miss Magna competition. The deadline is March 30. No applications can be taken after that date. Those interested must be 9 years of age, and never been married or have any children. They must live within the boundaries of Magna. Contestants will be judged on beauty, talent, personality, and speaking ability. Miss West Valley will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship from the pageant and a $700 cash scholarship from Valley West Chamber of Commerce. busiSeveral West Valley-are- a nesses contributed to the services required to present the annual pageant. Co-hos- ts Scouts collect for food bpnk Cowgirls and cowboys are expected to give a performance in the old West tradition at Brockbank Jr. High Saturday, March 20 at 7 p.m. In a second year of performing at its home at Brockbank, and a third year overall in performing, cowboys and cowgirls from around Utah and nearby regions are being rounded up for an evening of fun. They come with experience at Utah State Fair, radio, television and benefits. Poets, ropers, musiwill form a cians, or story-tellemix and match set. All know how to give a good performance. A cost of $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 will help fund fireworks for Magna's Independence Day celebration. Local cowboy poets hope to organize another fest Monday, July 5 with a full fay o entertainment by cowgirls and cowboys at Magna's Copper Park.
