Show The Magna TimesWest Valley News, Thursday, August 20, 1998 3 r : Community ; Local residents receive WCF scholarships Four local residents have received Legacy of Learning college scholfrom Workers arships Compensation Fund of Utah (WCF). ' Jeremy Buck and Thomas Martin of Kearns; Brandon Earl Cox of West Valley City; and Jeanette Thacker of Magna each received scholarships worth $1,500. They are numbered among 65 students who received scholarships given to qualified spouses and children of workers who died in industrial accidents covered by WCF. Since 1990, WCF has awarded more than 300 scholarships worth some $500,000. Buck will use his scholarship to continue in a plumbing program at Salt Lake Community College. Buck has received two Legacy of Learning scholarships. Martin plans to pursue a master's from the University degree Phoenix. Cox will continue attending Salt Lake Community College. He has received two Legacy of Learning scholarships. , Thacker plans to attend Dixie College and major in math. Ed Mayne, president of the Utah and chairChapter of the AFL-CIman of the Legacy of Learning Scholarship committee, said the programs success demonstrates Saturday, September 19, 1998 is the date for the 13th Annual Reunion of Postal Employees (ROPE). Everyone who is now a Postal Employee or former employee, retired or at anytime employed in any capacity, any office location in the by the Postal Service is come to invited socialize and renew acquaintances and even State, make some new friends. The event will be held at Distinctive Catering, 285 East 2700 South, Salt Lake City, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Lunch, Buffet Style will begin at noon. The menu will be roast beef, potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salads, rolls, dessert and beverage. Following this, there will be a drawing for prizes donated by members and everyone will be entered for the grand prize.
