Magna times Information about raising children and communicating with people was the subject of a talk given by Richard and Linda Eyre at the Magna Central Stake Womens Conference evening fireside. The Eyres are well known locally and nationally for their theme of communicating and raising children. They are authors of several books, tapes, and television shows with proven ideas for having a happier they are able to spend the morning meal learning together. Before they leave the house, they have a family prayer and hug. The family feels strengthened by the prayer and loved because of the hug. What a better way to start the day, she said. The Eyres overall message, though, was to talk to your family. By learning about the situations they face and why they react, it is easier to help them and to love them. Mrs. Eyre also spoke about building a stronger family. One thought was that reading scriptures daily will help set the mood for the day. At their household, they read the scriptures during breakfast. It was indicated that by Salt Lake Community College preparing our family to meet obstacles in life, we can have a life filled with joy and happiness. One subject Mr. Eyre spoke about was communicating with children. A young son was having difficulties with fallen grades in school. This son was an excellent student, so the grade drop came unexpectedly. Instead of barging into the boys room and demanding to know what was going on, Mr. Eyre entered the room in a much calmer manner by preparing himself. He stated that he has found that a three-ste- p method is most helpful when you need to discuss topics of serious matter with family. First, pray. Pray about what you will be discussing and how to handle the situation. Second, open your mouth and talk. Yelling doesnt accomplish much. Talk to your child.
