The classes and clinics will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the new Pioneer Medical Arts Center on the campus, 3336 South 4155 West, West Valley City. The event, Health Festival 94, is by Jordan Valley Hospital and Health TrustUtah in cooperation with the American Lung Association of Utah. There will be no charge for services, but donations will be appreciated and proceeds will benefit the American Lung Association of Utah and its programs and education. Activities will include lectures and work classes on Is When Snoring Dangerous," Controlling Your Own Asthma, and Childhood Asthma in Public Schools. To sign up for these classes, call the Pioneer Valley health line, Hospital the public. Other booths will feature first aid training, health risk factors, pre-natgrowth al development, laparoscopic procedures, radiology, spine seat belt safety, sleeping disorders, and methods to stop smoking. Also featured will be McGruff the Crime Dog, the DARE police car, West Valley dime Coalition, instruction on bike safety and wearing the helmet, Utah National Guard with their MASH tents, AirMed Helicopter, and Gold Cross ambulances. Food booths, raffles, and a dunking booth will be available. Entertainment will be provided by the Sunshine Generation Dance Club, the Post Office Band, and other groups. The Magna Library will participate in the Magna Copper Days celebration by hosting a used book sale at the library, located in Arbor Park, 8339 West 3500 South. The bode sale will take place Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy some great bode bargains for just a few coppers, as materials will sell at prices. Induded will be fiction, childrens books, magazines, and other materials weeded penny-pinchi- ng non-fictio- n, from the librarys collection because of low circulation or damage, or items donated to the library. The unveiling was on the portion of the rotunda, immediately visible upon entering the south doors of the State Capitol Building. The statue is about 8 feet tall with a bronze base on a granite pedestal. It weighs about 2,500 pounds all of and cost $125,000 which was donated money with no public funding. Nearly 2,000 pounds of clay was used to sculpt the original figure in a studio in Highland, Utah County. Eleven people then worked d as silicon molds were made from the clay sculpture. Fifty wax sections were made from the silicon molds, and they were used to make ceramic molds. Next, fifty molten bronze pours were made into ceramic molds, which were heated to 1,600 degrees. The statue pieces were carefully pieced together like a giant puzzle welded, and a patina was applied.' Brigham Young was born June 1, 1801, in Whitingham, Vermont, and died in Salt Lake City Aug. 29, 1877, 30 hand-in-han- 2100-degr- ee mon pioneers across the plains to settle in Utah. His parents were devout Puritans, but while living in western New York State he heard of a new religion call ed the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints (Mor mons) and he decided U investigate.
