District 13, representing Tooele County and portions of Salt Lake and Utah Counties. He will run on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Mantes is president of Mantes Chevrolet and, in addition, is president of Mantes Realty Co. (a commercial real estate development company) and Tooele Supply Company (a wholesale and retail auto parts company). He was chairman of the board of the Utah Auto Dealers Association m 1989. I feel strongly that Utah is on the threshold of a period of unprecedented growth and prosperity, said Mr. Mantes. Our challenge is to ensure this growth will take place in an orderly fashion and serve the best interests of the people. I have a vested interest in the future of this state and a strong desire to devote my time, talents, and energy addressing this challenge. Mr. Mantes served four years on the Tooele City Council, two as chan man, and is a past president of the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce. He served eight years as a member ot the board of directois of Tooele Valley Hospital, loui of those as president. A charter member and early president of the Tooele Jaycees. he was also chairman ot the Tooele Downtown Improvement Project Mr. Mantes was raised in Tooele and graduated from Tooele High School. He attended the University of Utah and graduated with honors in 1959 with a bachelors degree in marketing. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with a commission as 1st Lieutenant.
