Church Notes Magna East Stake sponsors blood drive August 4, 4-- 8 Intermountain Health Care (IHC) Blood Services need your blood. To assist IHC in maintaining an adequate blood supply, the Magna LDS East Stake will sponsor a blood drive at the stake center, 2852 So. 80th W. on August 4. Donation time is 8 4-- ' p.m. IHC needs donors between 17 and 65, especially during the summer ,, months when donations drop and accidents increase. A 17 year-ol- d may t donate with parental permission and any donor must weigh at least 1 10 lbs. Blood services personnel recommend that donors have a light meal within four hours proceeding the -- - great enough for everyone to be involved. Each ward in the stake has been asked to provide 40 members who can donate blood. IHCs Blood Assurance Program has automatically enrolled everyone -regardless of religion - within the stakes boundries, 72nd W. - 80th W. and No. Temple - 35th So. Early Monday morning of July 1 1 , twenty girls and leaders prepared for a week long campout in Big Cottonwood Canyon. These fourth and fifth year girls drove to Brighton where they hiked a mile to Lake Maty, ate their lunch, totally relaxed, then drove back down ' the mountain to Spruces campsites. (Where they stayed the night in four tents.) . Tuesday morning came quick for these girls due to the normal giggling all night. When everyone was awake and packed, they headed to Pine Grove where they met die first through third year girls and the rest of the leaders. ' The rest of the afternoon was spent un--1 packing camping gear and setding down with their new surroundings. Later in die afternoon crafts were and a special Luau for dinner; held, ' considering this years theme was Hawaiian. After the Luau, everyone spent time together and eventually tumed-i- n for die night. As Wednesday came, so did the hike to Donut Falls. This hike lasted all morning and part way into the afternoon with, of course, cooking lunch on the trail. Crafts were again held for the reafterwhich, wards, maining ' dinnertime. All enjoyed singing around the -campfire. We are all proud of these girls. After the awards were given, a special testimony meeting was held with the separate wards. This made everyone feel closer to each other and a greater love for each other was developed. Friday morning left some in tears as they knew the week had ended and it was time to go home.
