The feeling of friendship that permeated this initial group of classes would be lost in a grand finale, that has been planned by the younger high school alumni. Therefore representatives of these five classes decided to hold their own LAST HURRAH REUNION. The members of the five classes who had previously assembled their fifty year reunions, gathered classes in this finale, i Wm. E. Bill White, Elected, General Chairman. I have a background and knew I had a good chance. Because of this Heidi was also picked as background a state finalist. Even though this student with an outstanding 3.98 grade point average did not win at state, there was no opportunity lost. Earning the chance to compete at state is a victory by itself, as Heidis portfolio will attest to. She has visited widows and handicapped children and was named as a recipient of the Youth of the Year award in West Valley City, along with fellow stering scholar John Wendel. Heidi is also currently enrolled in three advanced placement college level classes: American History, English and calculus. Should she successfully complete these courses, she would be considered a second-semestcollege freshman. As for what the sterling scholar program has done for her, Heidi observed, It got me three scholarship offers to BYU, Utah State University and the University of Utah. Her future plans include majoring in accounting at Utah State and earning a masters degree towards becoming a certified public accountant. Heidi noted influential people in her life include my parents, who are extremely supportive. Theyve always supported me in eveything Ive done and have taught me that I can do anything.
