Show THE MAGNA TIMES dnii Gfew Gregory Dean Henson, son of L. Dean and Dlorah Henson, will give his missionary farewell address on March 29, prior to leaving for the LDS Australia Adelaide Mission. Elder Henson will be speaking in the Spencer Second Ward, 8181 W. 3320 S. at 11 a.m. in Sacrament meeting. The newly-calle- d missionary is an avid sportsman and a 1985 graduate of Cyprus High School, where he played basketball, football and baseball. MAGNA ELEMENTARY PLEASANT GREEN Cyprus High Schools business students participated in the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) district competition on March 19 at Kearns High School. Cyprus did very well placing many individuals in the various competitions. Magna Elementary has recently announced their PTA reflections contest winners. In literature, Eric Talbot, Lynnette Turner and Nikole Bice and Liesl Talbot were the top third-grad- sixth-grade- fifth-grad- choices. The music category had two sixth-grade- rs as its Lillian Hunt and Jennifer Furrow. The photography division also had two place high in John George and award-winner- s, sixth-grade- rs Christina Peay, while fourth-grade- r Kevin Jorgensen also did well. The art section featured three Amanda Talbot, Liesl Talbot and Wade Olsen. Emmy Bowden, a fourth-grade- r and Lance Olsen, a second grader, also placed high. Other school news includes kindergarten orientation on March 27, a.m. Magnas different kinder- classes are featured on the proggarten ram. Im really glad that I won. Jesse said that his confidence was up, which probably contributed to his fine showing in the district finals. Other activities that Pleasant Gryen is involved in, include two special presentations, a maturation program and a reptile assembly. Today (March 19) at 7 p.m., the school will sponsor a maturation program, said a school spokeswoman. It will teach boys the facts about girls and girls the facts about boys. On March 20, Pleasant Greens will be treated to an assembly first-grade- on reptiles, which is sponsored by BYU. Other school business includes book orders due today (March 19) to the PTA, while kindergarten registration is on March 23, 11 a.m.-- 2 p.m. On March 25 and 26 the PTA will sponsor a mother-so- n outing at the Cyprus High School skating rink at 6:30 p.m. Kindergarten registration continues bn both March 26 and 27, a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. March 27 also marks the end of the third quarter. 1 ORCHARD ELEMENTARY Spelling bee winners are the big new$ of late at Orchard Elementary. Rich Hawkes won the title over Tonja Gublcr, a Richs winning word was vulcanization. Rich won Riverside Elementarys spelling bee last year as a fourth-gradand no doubt knew that he had a good thing going when he entered this time. He not only enjoys spelling, but reading works by such authors as C.S. Lewis. He represented Orchard at the Granite School District finals on March 12. The Utah Department of Cattlemen may now go to any instate auction with just their brand registration card, explained Terry Men-lovBureau Chief of Animal Identification. A wallet size card is issued to everyone who has a current brand registered in Utah. In the past, all catdemcn transporting animals to a sale and crossing a district line were required to first obtain a permit to market slip from their local brand inspector. This slip was then given to the brand inspector at the sale. ' Now, owners can use their brand registration card. Or, if they arc transporting someone else animals, they must have a bill of sale signed by the e. change can be directed to the local brand inspector, the auction brand in- spector or the Utah Department of Agriculture.
