The UYS Concert Orchestra, in its 24th season, rehearses weekly on Saturday mornings in Gardner Hall on the University of Utah campus, performing a minimum of three concerts annually in Garner Hall. Rehearsals this season begin September 17, with the first concert scheduled November 17 featuring local cellist Gayle Smith. The Utah Youth Student Orchestra, will register musicians and ages begin rehearsals September 17. No audit iorys necessary for membership in the Student Orchestra, but a written recommendation fromamusic teacher is required. The only beneficial treatment for mushroom poisoning is to induce vomiting with syrup of ipecac, says ' Because many edible mushrooms have poisonous it often takes an expert mycologist to tell them apart. Syrup of ipecac, therefore, is mandatory for everyone who has eaten the mushrooms. Peach Cobbler an American Classic We hope you have enjoyed your Peach cobbler, like peach buckle, peach fool or pandowdie have been created by cooks with a lot of creativity and a sense of humor, too. The fact that theyre still enjoyed today is a tribute to their goodness. This peach cobbler is a classic version from the makers of Karo corn syrup. PEACH COBBLER pounds peaches, peeled, sliced (about 4 cups ) 1 tablespoon corn starch V4 teaspoon ground nutmeg cup Karo light corn syrup Biscuit Topping (recipe follows ) Place peaches in IV2 quart casserole dish. In small bowl stir together corn starch and nutmeg. Gradually stir in com syrup until smooth. Pour over peaches; toss to coat evenly. Bake in 400 degree F oven for 20 minutes. Drop Biscuit Topping by spoonfuls onto hot fruit mixture. Bake 25 to 30 minutes longer or until golden brown. Makes 8 servings. Biscuit Topping: In bowl stir together 1 cup unsifted flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder and Vk teaspoon salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives cut in 2 tablespoons com oil margarine until coarse crumbs form. In bowl stir together U cup milk, 2 tablespoons Karo light syrup and teaspoon grated lemon rind. ' Area consumers will find a variety of fresh vegetables and the first of the seasons canning peaches, according to Stan Bell, Utah Farm Bureau Director of Commodities. He said the selection will include com, summer squash, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes. The annual farmers markets give consumers access to the freshest produce possible, Bell said, and provide those farmers who participate with an additional outlet for their commodities. It also gives farmers the opportunity to maintain personal contact with consumers. The market will operate every Friday and Saturday through the end of October, Bell said. Within a few weeks the peach, pear and apple harvest will make those fruits available the farmers through market. He said Utahs fruit crop this season is the largest he has seen in several years.
