Show t PAGE 4 THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 1979 THE MAGNA TIMES Sugar and Spice People N Things Local woman really enjoys baking pies for family, friends By Dixie Nelson love to bake pies, is what Mrs. Leon (Betty) Families welcome new babies home x?:,1" I Plott told when asked about her favorite cooking ex- periences. They are fun and Mrs. Craig VanDermeyden of 4602 Mr. and easy. Wien I bake them I do it from scratch. The they are all mine and not out of a package." She noted that she had to be careful and not eat too much of what she bakes. "Otherwise I'd never be able to get in and out of the door " Mrs. Plotl's recipe for crust is as follows: Iior WATER PIE 1 CRUST cup shortening, one half cup boiling water, 2 cups flour, one half tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt. Mix the shortening and water well. Add the flour along with the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Chill at least one hour. Roll out on floured board to desired size. This recipe is reall good. If you make a mistake just roll it up and start over. It is always flaky. Chilling the dough makes it easier to handle," Mrs. Plott said. Mr. Plott who works for Kennecolt, sees a lot of pie making at his house, as does Yiclie 22, who teaches at Kearns High and Ted 14. This is because Mrs. Plott not only bakes them for her family but for all of her neighbors as well. All the neighbors bring to me their because they knew' I make pie," Mrs. Plott said. Here is her recipe for Jack pie along with one for Lemon Meringue and Banana Cream Pie. Posieden Drive in Hunter have welcomed their first baby.
