It culminates a food and nutrition study, and gives the students an opportunity to develope their culinary skills and dependance. Dave Gordon and Mrs. girls emerged as the top winning cooks at the annual baking contest held at Lake Ridge School on Fridav March 30, following a close and difficult judging of the 5th and 6th grade entries. Claiming first place prizes from all entries were Stephanie Whiteman, cake decorating Cheryl Johnson, Cany; Jill Morgan, General cake, and Toni Rodriguez, cookies. Second, third and fourth place awards were given to the winners from the total entries also, and the winners from each room were given ribbons from their individual teachers. The first baby show, on Oct. 14, 1854, included 127 exhibits, including a child of 5 months who weighed 27 pounds. . Cyprus 440 relay team can be congratulated for their outstanding performance beating the Union team by 5.69 seconds. The girls team can also be congratulated with Joyce Hickman taking a 1st in the high jump, the 110 hurdles, and also the discus throw. Shelly Sharp took a 1st in both the 100 yard dash and the 220 yard dash. Kay Prokopos did well with a 1st in the broad jump and a 2nd in the 440 yard dash, the 110 hurdles and the discus. Machinist Completes Navy Course Navy Machinists Mate Fireman Scotty D. Crank, son of Bobby E. and Shirly M. Crank of 3440 South 8260 West, Magna, has Utah, the Basic completed Machinists Mate Course. During the course at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, students received instruction on the use of hand tools and machine shop equipment. In addition, they studied the basic operation, main- tenance and repair of ships equipment, propulsion evaporators and generators. The students were also introduced to the types of duty watches that Machinists Mates stand aboard ships. A 1976 graduate of Cyprus High School, he joined the Navy in July 1978.
