Show PAGE 3 Jodie THE MAGNA Former Magma Girl Joins Play Martin, a 22, missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints, has been selected to participate in the 1978 Hill Cumorah Pageant to be held m Palmyra, New York. She is the daughter of Hollis and June Martin of 8681 West 3150 South in Magna, Utah. She is currently serving in the New York Rochester Miss ion of the church. Before accepting her call to serve for eighteen months with the church, Miss Martin attended Cyprus High School in Magna. She was active in Pep Club, Honor Club and Service Clubs. She was in the Churchs seminary program for four years while attending high school and attended two years of institute while attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Miss Martin comes from a family of four children. She has two older brothers and one younger sister. Her parents are active in the church and hold various positions in the Pleasant Green 3rd Ward. After having been on her mission for fifteen months, Miss Martin says, Pageant is a beautiful experience, I cant believe how it makes the Book of Mormon come alive. I feel it a great blessing to be involved in it. After returning home, she plans to continue her education and raise a family. The epic story of the 1978 version of the Hill Cumorah Pageant' is scheduled for its 41st production, underthe dnection of Dr. Jack Sederholm, on Route 21, South in Palmyra, New York, at 9 p.m. nightly July 21, 22 and y recorded A one-hou- r concert by the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir precedes each performance. the practice Following established with the first performance of the Pageant in 1937, the Mormon Church makes no charges for admission or for parking, sells no souvenirs, programs or refreshments, and neither solicits nor accepts donations. The outdoor pageant folds on twenty-fiv- e stages by a cast of over six hundred who voluntarily donate their k time to participate. The cost is 75 cents per person, or $3 for a family of 4 or more. This presentation will be The Greatest Story Ever Told, adopted from Fulton Ourslers book by that title. The film portrays the life of Jesus, from His birth to and Joseph in Mary Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod of Judea until His resurrection. Upon hearing of the birth of The King of the Jews, Herod decrees that all male children in Bethlehem be slaughtered. But Joseph and his family escape to Egypt where they remain until the death of Herod. After being baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus gathers His twelve disciples while preaching the gospel of peace on earth. His miracles arouse the ire of the High Priest Caiaphas, and John the Baptist is executed for preaching repentance and prophesying the coming of what happens the Messiah. After raising His friend Magna. Lazarus from the dead, Jesus enters Jerusalem, where He expels the moneylenders from the temple and continues before vast preaching order in Births, deaths, local events, church news, weddings, birthday-s- , audiences. Following the Last Supper, Jesus is betrayed by one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, and com icted of blasphemy.
