Hunter Boys League announced its newly elected officers at the annual trophy night held recently. Sidwell, The League is proud to be hosting the Granite School District Invitational Baseball Tournament. Games will begin July 26 and will run through the week. Coach Of The Year Honored Coach of the Year for 1977 is the honor placed upon Cyprus High Schools new wrestling coach, Dennis Preece, by the Scholastic Wrestling News, a national publication. In noting Preeces outstanding accomplishments during his 12 years as head wrestling coach at Uintah High School, Scholastic Wrestling News lists 208 wins and 16 losses, with 2 ties and 52 tournament wins. He has coached nine state championship teams in ten years, taken second place twice in state competition as well as a third in state competition. He coached forty-seve- n state champions in the past twelve years and place 102 men first through fourth in state competition. He was selected 1977 AAA Outstanding Coach of the Year for the State of Utah and assembled a 1976-7- 7 record of 15-- and won five tournaments. This staggering record was accumulated despite the fact that he has never wrestled a match in his life. Instilling in his wrestlers a belief in themselves along with the desire for excellence a perserverance have been the tools with which he makes champions. Scholastic News Wrestling describes Coach Preece as possessing The promotion drive of a show business manager who relentlessly seeks out the toughest competition he can find in three states and for whom wrestling is a way of life, not just a profession. 0 . In the trapshooting circuit the children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Allen of Hunter are rapidly making names for themselves. During a recent shoot at the Spanish Fork Gun Club, Mark Allen, 15, took the Yardage Handicap with a score of 97 out of 100. Participating at the Utah State Shoot the Salt Lake Gun Club, he ran off with the Junior Singles Championship dropping 197 birds from a possible 200. At the Vernal shoot, the last part of June, he took the High Handicpap for two days with 195 out of 200 birds.
