Well, finally, its here The general fishing season opens statewide. Saturday, May 29. The angling will begin at 5 a.m. (Daylight Savings Time) and will keep the hordes busy until 10 p m. The regular season remains open until November 30. Sssd to the next; but the prospects for the 1976 opener appear to be favorable for most state vary from one area in general, anglers. Fishing will probably be limited to lakes and controlled streams below impoundments. Utahs Central Region predicts that the best fishing on the opener will once again be located in the large lakes and reservoirs. Unlike 1975, however, many of the streams in this region will be clear and thus planted with catchables for the big weekend. Most of the streams in this region will be stocked prior to opening day. Crappie fishing at Lake Powell should be at its best for the long holiday weekend. Utah holds many superior recreational opportunities. Fishing is the one most often utilized; and with the general fishing season just around the perverbial corner, attention is centered on the many popular fishing sights across the state. Fishing in the Southeastern Region will vary widely as access to many areas is currently hampered by snow and some ice as well. conditions have also delayed stocking in many bodies of water. Lakes and waters in lower elevations should be good, however, for the anglers first try of the new season. Snow pack is above normal but well below last years record high. We, therefore, have good news for high lake fishermen, at least in some areas. Listed below are regional highlights. BEAVEk CREEK - RESERVOIR - Looks better d rainbow. Good this year for access for boats with no launching fees. Overnight camping fee of $1.00. LILLY, TEAPOT & LOST LAKES -These lakes possibly could be stocked. LITTLE BEAR RIVER. SOUTH FORK Will probally be stocked by opening. This is a small stream. LITTLE BEAR RIVER, EAST FORK Probably will be stocked. Campers will be charged $3.00 for weekend; $30.00 for the season. LITTLE BEAR RIVER, LEFT HAND FORK - Probably will be stocked. Some small brook and cutthroat should be taken at upper eriti. Curtis Creek will be stocked. LOST CREEK RESERVOIR - Only fair opener expected for small fish. NORTH SLOPE OF U1NTAS - Snow pack below level of last year. Hoop Lake will be open. Bridger Lake may be open. Henrys Fork campground is open. 1IYRUM half-poun- Has been stocked and will be open BLACKSMITH to vehicle traffic. FORK RIVER - Good for -- brown trout. Fishermen can take some nice big fish. Impoundments have been stocked with one-hapound rainbow. CAUSEY RESERVOIR - Good for rainbow. Some larger cutthroats will be taken. CHALK CREEK - High and muddy. May not be stocked. EAST CANYON RESERVOIR - We e pan-sizexpect a good opener for rainbow. A few larger fish are expected to show in the creel.
