Show MAGNA TIMES, Tnursday, October 18, 1973 5 50th wedding celebration MAGNA -- - Golden wedding reception was held on Sept. 23 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kidd at the home of their son Blaine Kidd, 3722 W. Peoria, Phoenix, Arizona The former Magna residents were married in Salt Lake City on Sept. 25, 1923. Mr. Kidd was with Kennecott Copper Corp. for 40 years before retiring. They moved to Phoenix in 1963 and now live at 1582 W . Campbell Ave. The affair was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Kidd, and Mr. and Mrs. Blake Harmon (Mrs. Harmon is ). The honored couple have six grandchildren. agrand-daughter- Visit for conference Conference visitors The Aaron Olsens had a weeks visit with Mrs. Louise B. Jensen of Teftion, Georgia. Mrs. Olsens cousin came to Utah for the LDS general con- ference held recently. Another visitor to the Ol- sen home was Mrs. Olive B. Caulsen of San Francisco, Calif. A dinner for the visitors was given on Oct. 8 with Mr. and Mrs.Gle A. Olsen and son, Brent (Magna); Mr. and Mrs. George L. Olsen and daughter Beth Ann (Clearfield), attended. Birthday dinner A gala, family birthday dinner was held(for five members of th Olsen family who have birthday anniversaries in October) at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Foote in Granger. The honored guests were Gregory and Davie Foote, Brent and Brenda Olsen; and Richard Simons. te Miss Deborah Dee Peel Temple wedding set Mr. and Mrs. F. Dec Peel, Magna, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Deborah Dee Peel, to Craig Thomas Duckworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald B. Duckworth, Magna, 1 tah. The couple are planning a Nov. 19 wedding in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A reception will be held that evening at Four Seasons West. Miss Peel received her degree in Physical F.ducation from I tah State Cniversitvand Big is now teaching Hunter at Woods of the Utah State Board of Women Officials. She is serving as Region II Representative for the State Division of Girls and Womens Sports. Mr. Duckworth attended I tah State I niversity and the University of Utah. He served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He is presently employed at Kennecott Copper Corp. bazaar ready This years 25th Annual Bazaar, sponsored b y the Mental Retardation Association of Utah, Inc., (MRAU), promises to be the most spectacular event in the health agencys history, accordingto Mrs. Elaine S. Sharp, executive director of the agency. The day is Saturday, Nov. 3. I am especially pleased with the wide public support were getting so far since the more than 33,000 retarded children and adults in Utah whom we help support are to receive the benefits. Mrs. Sharp saidthisyears bazaar goal is $20,000. She said the MRAU was able to raise $15,000 last year at its bazaar. "Our members have been planning all year for this bazaar and the items they have made for sale, quilts, aprons, afghans, and adult and childrens clothing are just beautiful. said Mrs. Sharp. There will be a large variety of antiques and used items for sale at the bazaar and many new items, too, said Mrs. Sharp. Verne Breeze had a trip to New Orleans recently to attend the fall board meeting of the National Association o f Home Builders. While there they made a bid I to have the convention held in Salt Lake City in 1976. On their return trip they flew to Dallas, Texas to visit with their daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Bateman, and grandchildren. They discovered this city has a wonderful sports program for the youngsters. Their grandson, Scott, has the opportunity of playing on a football team. Teams are coached by former college coaches. TheGreens remained two weeks at the Williams home returning to their Idaho home on Oct. 6. Bishop and Mrs. A. Blaine Buckner spent a four day holiday at Wasatch Mountain Park recently. They played golf at the Homestead and were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Whittaker for a few days. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Hurtle Jeffers will be glad to learn they have moved from Tennessee to 3200 W.3324 So., Granger. They were former residents of Hunter, moved to Tennessee for a few years and have returned. Mr. Jeffers was one of the speakers on Sunday at the 7th Hunter Ward when the Seventies were in charge of the meeting. Mr. Mrs. Emmett Shaffer were hosts on Saturday, Oct. 6, to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marshall of Panguitch and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Marshall of Salt Lake City. A lovely dinner was served to the guests who spent the evening visiting. and Miss Peggy Harman and Mr. Jon E. Hales were united in marriage Sept. 29 at the Seville Center. Reception Bishop A. Blaine Buckner performed the ceremony. A reception followed. Miss Harman isthe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Harman of 5427 W. 3500 So. Mr. Hales is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Hales of 8871 W. 3100 So., Magna. The bride wore a gown of nylon chiffon with lace flower trim and the high neckline was edged with lace flowers. Her layered veil formed a train and was caught to a beaded Kind. She carried a bouquet of yellow carnations centered with yellow roses. Attending the bride were Miss Teresa Collard, maid of honor; Miss StaceySandall, Mrs. Bruce (Colleen) Rushton, Mrs. Gary R. (Teddie) Warr, sister of the bride, Mrs. Pete (Rosie) Georgelas. MissElva Hales and Miss Robyn Hales bridesmaids. They were gowned in formals with flower print in autumn colors and wore attractive garden hats. The attendants carried sprays of yellow carnations. Mother of the bride was gowned in a gold color formal; the mother of the groom chose a rust color formal. Each wore a corsageof yellow roses and carnations. Best man duties were performed by Mr. Barry Hales, brother of the groom. Head usher was Jack Harman, brother of the bride. Others Mr. Wilde Brough and Mr. Lynn (lift bearers were Brett Hales, Shane Warr and Adam Warr. At the guest book was Miss Mary Nielsen. The three tiered wedding cake was designed with lattice columns and decorated with yellow flowers with wedding bells on top. The wedding brunch was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford A. Coon of Granger prior to the ceremony. Prenuptial parties were given by Mrs. Douglas Collaru and Teresa Collard, Mrs. were Wayne Sandall andStacey Sandall and Mrs. Gary R. Warr. Out of town visitors were Mrs. Fern A. Schaine of Fullerton, Calif., Mrs. Phillip J. Ritter and son Todd of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The young couple traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyo., for their honeymoon trip. They are living in Magna.
